Credit card cheques are not secure and are not covered the same as a payment made by a credit card.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. thanks just confirmed my thinking usually i stick to paypal but i got desperate and didnt check properly he was one of the only people selling the item (http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=573629)
think im just going to have to risk it with a postal order, hopefully it will be quicker than waiting for cheque to clear etc hes got decent feedback 1100ish at 97.7% so hopefully it will be ok
 I would even hesitate at using paypal and buying at all from a seller with that percentage feedback on over 1000 sales. If you go ahead with this then you must seriously the fact that you can do nothing at all if the item is incorrect or fails to arrive..what are his negs for?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. he seems to be importing items from abroad, main negs were for a problem with a batch of mp3 players he sold and a couple of negs and neutrals about slow postage and the fact he charges like £6 for postage but sends 1st class,
if he raises a non paying dispute will it close my account, im not too fussed but obviously dont want to loose my account if i dont have toYes Your Dukeiness

People send thousands of cheques every day to pay for ebay items, realistically you are more likely to be ripped off by someone taking paypal as their address is kept from you.
Don't be put off by some of the doom and gloom merchants here.0 -

Even eternal optimists such as you can't deny that it's possible to entirely cover yourself for problems if you pay with paypal... something that is NEVER possible with a cheque. My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -

I got ripped off twice with purchaces I made via paypal.
If i'd payed by cheque at least I'd have had a real name and address to pursue.
Paypal promise me that just as soon as the scammers upload some more money, I'll get my refund.0 -
realistically i buy a good for £30 f it doesnt turn up yes i have their name and address but what would i do with it? go and have a chat? take them to court?
with paypal as long as you follow their t+c's its relatively easy to get your money back if not then you still have the option to chase them upYes Your Dukeiness
