found this on google2. If you have paid by postal order and it is supposedly lost in the post you need to get a form from the post office to fill out to find out if it have been cashed
This is the direct dial phone number to use to trace your postal orders;
01246 542252.
You'll need your original receipt before they can tell you whether they've been cashed or not.
Please bear in mind that they don't like people ringing them on that number but if you're insistent they'll run the trace for you.

If a seller takes a postal order or a cheque and doesn't send the goods exactly *what* can the buyer do?
The buyer could faff around with small claims and for a £30 item is it worth risking another £30+ to chase the seller who may or may not be the one who signed for the item?
If sending a cheque or a postal order to a complete stranger you are relying on them being honest in the firts place, and also, more importantly to be in a position to refund you in full if the item gets lost in the post. Look at some of the threads on here where a seller asks what to do as item is lost in the post..it usually starts off with 'how did the buyer pay?' as of course buyer will get a refund if using paypal. think im just going to have to risk it with a postal order, hopefully it will be quicker than waiting for cheque to clear etc hes got decent feedback 1100ish at 97.7% so hopefully it will be okYes Your Dukeiness

1100ish at 97.7% isn't decent feedback! i think that means about 24 negative feedback, and possibly some neutrals too.
i am wary of anyone with less than 99% feedback, especially on higher feedback scores0 -
Crossed POs take about as long a cheques to clear. If you have a cheque book, cheque would be better. You can then easily check if/ when it's been cashed, and unlike a PO, the cheque itself doesn't cost you anything.0
