In the US you can buy use cosmetics and return if you dislike no problems.
In the UK/Europe this is not the case. Allergic reaction most stores will allow a return. I did it last year in SpaceNK, product broke me out and I brought it back. No problem giving me a refund.
You keep insisting weasel words. No such case, you got got dazzled and went mad and bought loads and over spent. Bring the damage item back to the stock and they will replace.0 -
High street stores will typically fall over backwards to ensure statutory compliance and to maintain a customer-friendly reputation. So most people (including myself) have no experience of companies that skirt the boundaries of legality. If the store pushes back, what can y do about it?
This thread is about the consumer's rights in terms of store returns policy, using my case as an example.0 -
Why the need for a second thread ?
DI'd the first 1 provide answers ?0 -

Hollydays: No, it's a different company. I prefer not to name it at this stage, to focus on the legal issue.0 -

They are perfectly entitled not to refund you for a change of mind re cosmetics.
For example M&S (renowned for their returns policy) excludes cosmetics and toiletries for a "change of mind" return.
Chalk it up to experience and next time you won't fall for sales flannel.0 -

The returns policy in the first post suggests the same here.0 -

Not true. From the M&S site:
Returning Beauty, Bra Accessories, Earrings, Flowers, Plants, Food, Gift Cards, Hampers, Wine, made to order items including Shirts, Cushions & Curtains
Refunds for the above products will only be given in accordance with your legal rights on the above items (for example, if they’re not fit for purpose or not as described). If your item is faulty, damaged or unfit for purpose, please contact us.

Mmm interesting so even M&S are confused. The page I referenced directly contradicts the one you saw. I can't post the link but if you google the phrase below you will get the page.

"*Please note: beauty, filled bedding products such as duvets, pillows and electronic items can be returned under our goodwill policy if they are unopened and have the security seal intact."0 -
Just to clarify the gist of the thread. This a cosmetics store. Cosmetics are their business. They have a Return Policy displayed in the store. It is therefore a reasonable assumption that that cosmetics are included in the Return Policy.
The question is, does the stated return policy in the 1st post give me grounds to return and refund the goods? That is assuming I return them with original packaging and seals intact.0 -
