I would certainly speak to neighbours. If the potential buyers of next door had knocked my door I may have given them the full story or may have implied we were neighbours from hell - depending on whether they seemed nice quiet older couple or family with kids in tow!

Could be a few reasons. Its probably worth asking. The current owners could be splitting up etc
  • They are an older couple so will ask, been past a few times very quiet during the day and night tbh.
I agree about the house boom I remember it well in Yarm years ago.
Think I'll knock on a couple of doors tomorrow when I view.

I can guarantee the regular postie will know the full story, would definitely ask them if you happen to see them.

    Maybe it's haunted...?

The initial owners lived there 7 years, then sold it no doubt to someone who did it up and sold it on. the next quick sale then seems odd, but perhaps they feared price drops on the area so sold it on quickly? They were correct though, as it sold 9 years later for almost the same price!!

So you have had TWO owners who have lived there 7 then 9 years, so not too suspicious...

If it is an older couple, perhaps they have health problems? You can but ask...

Have you looked at the sales patterns of the neighbouring houses? Is it similar?
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

I kind of doubt terrible neighbours... I think after the stress of moving most people would still give it at least a year before they utterly gave up and went to the trouble of moving.

Could have been somebody bought it and spent a couple of months to do it up and the next lot had some reason of their own to move fast? The buyer of our flat got planning permission to extend it and put it back on the market 5 months after buying, but it didn't sell so he's doing the extension and presumably will put it back on the market, in which case it'll show as having changed hands after a relatively short time.

C'mon, folks were in it for 9 years up until last year. No red flag here.

What about a couple splitting up? If one bought the other out it would show up like that... in 2006 they bought they split and then sold again?

    Who to ask?
The buyers, & the estate agent, biased though they may be. Selling up after 8 months? I'd certainly ask & I might try to separate the vendors to check if I got 2 different answers.

The neighbours (carefully)? [I have claimed to be an enthusiastic orchid grower concerned about the soil, weather & possibility of a greenhouse. Fascinating conversations that caused, but the folk were chatty souls.]

Local chippy/kebab place, local corner shop, local crem (has the area had a wave of sickness? Dodgy water supply? Power cuts leading to contaminated freezers?)

It might all be *so* innocent & vanilla that folk have moved out as they're bored...

Would a remortgage show on the LR as a 'sale'? The owners could have wanted to release equity for internal work?

    I don't think it would.

I bought my house in 2006 with my ex. My brother then bought him out in 2011. I have since bought my brother out this year (and had to take additional borrowing to do so).

Although my house has had a variety of owners over the last 10 years, if you look online, it only says the 2006 entry.
