Please can you tell me what is my phone number ............
If your BT line is active, dial 17070 and listen. The automated voice will identify your circuit as ........
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

I don't think it's active yet ... but I'll try it anyway when I get home from work, thanks!"

thanks for above. I rang the head office number above too, no call back the whole day on the first attempt, but just rang again and waiting for callback (again).
I can't believe the level of service here. On hold for hours and hours, many many emails, details lots, promises of callbacks with nothing, they get my name wrong, they promise not to put me on hold for hours then do so. I am really appalled at how bad this is.
All just to ask them to bring forward switching on my bt line by a week.
Will post how I get on with complaint.

The only time I can get through to BT is by calling them 5 minutes after they open at 8.05am.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)
  • Having been told by sales they could do something if we went back to BT, I have been on the phone every day for 2 weeks trying to get a line to work normally, and it turns out they can't do what they originally said. Great cost in time and money for zip.

I have spoken to what feels like every department, some very helpful but all ineffective. If I ran my business like this I would be broke.

My advice is "Do not go back".

Just to follow on from above post, I managed to speak to someone at head office on Thursday. They followed up on Friday and again today. Line connected, plus one month free line rental by way of an apology. The woman I dealt with was polite, organised and sorted everything out. They rang me back when they said they would and gave me a direct number to the person dealing with the issue.

Why can't they sort this out with their call centres? They have a HUGE training problem there. Anyway, if you're having problems, call the director of complaint's office.
  • Im so glad im not on my own with this. Im a new customer and I was horrified by the service. On hold many times without getting through and then when I did get through I found out 2 weeks later that they hadnt even done what Id asked with my direct debit causing me to be more skint than I already was

Its nothing to do with the training, its a combination of the amount of staff used in the centres & the call platforms they use for these centres.

Thanks... did anyone else feel that they were just stuck in an endless loop and just got put pack to the initial point of contact (who couldn't help) over and over and over again?
I so hope I never have to call them again. It's damaging to my mental health!
