The EU: IN or OUT?

EU migrants pay tax and NI,just as you do.
So what are they a "drain"and you are not?
and claim it back in tax credits, where is the net contribution. You need to earn £28,000 per year to be a net contributor, how many low skilled (of which there are so many) immigrants earn that?
Plus the overall disruption, If you have ever stood behind one is a queue where the lady at the desk is saying "sign here" and the European guy is like "uh". I have seen this go on for several minutes with the rest of the queue getting very irritated.
There is no study in the world that accounts for things like this.
Don't get me started an anti social behavior and binge drinking, we already had a massive problem with this in the UK,
answer; Import more??? - Really?
The rising cost of rents and house prices because of unprecedented demand, We would need a house to be built every two minutes to cope, One solution would be unsightly concrete highrise flats, like they had the the Soviet Union. How lovely.Earn, Save and Achieve0 -
I beg to differ, as others say here, I find that many do/did think that the immigrants currently here will have to go (and no doubt some might go voluntarily, who knows).
And EU immigrants pay more in taxes than they take in benefits. According to the latest statistics available.
Wait until they start claiming pensions, and getting age related illnesses, that is when they will cost more. Plus factor in the cost of children, once they have families.0 -
It was interesting briefly reading the debate on man-made global warming.
It is true that we are exiting a mini ice age, I personally cannot accept that we are having a massive effect on the climate, considering the CO2 emitted by cattle and the fumes put out by the many volcanos worldwide.
There is a field of study that seems to suggest that pollution was actually keeping the world cooler http://www.smh.com.au/news/world/pollution-is-protecting-us-from-harsh-rays-of-the-sun/2005/12/22/1135032135873.htmlWhat is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
Not caught up on this thread, but quoting migration watch to prove a point doesn't give it much weight.
Probably better to give some peer reviewed evidence. It make your points more credible.
Thanks
Well a lot of Bremainers kept on banging on about how EU migrants paid more tax than they take out. It turns out that the research (from a pro EU professor) says that EU migrants contribute next to nothing to the UK....
Then when you look at the "research" in detail it turns out that a lot of the assumptions were completely unrealistic. So it's fair to say that EU migration is a drain to the country.....

If you remove the influence of mankind you will see that the climate is in reasonable equilibrium i.e. CO2 emmitted by volcanoes, forest fires and other sources roughly matches that absorbed by plants, oceans etc. The C02 we are emitting thus throws the equilibrium out of balance. You can see that from the historical CO2 measurements. As for cows, yes the cows we raise on what were once woods emit huge amounts of methane which is a far more potent greenhouse gas than CO2 and is a major contributor to global warming.0 -

If you actually look at the data we're still,in an interglacial. We're only 15,000 years after the end of the last ice age, which isn't long and could easily mean we're back into a glacial period in the next few hundred or thousand years.
From a planetary perspective it is probably preferable if humans manage to make themselves extinct by then.0 -
Cows are very different to burning coal or oil. Any CO2 cows emit was recently extracted from the atmosphere by plants - it's a very fast loop. Coal on the other hand emits CO2 from carbon that was derived from the atmosphere 300M years ago and safely held underground since then.0

This is another unclear area. No one knows the truth
Like illegals, lot of migrants work for cash in hand so no tax and NI. I see hoards hanging around DIY stores for work. I do not believe they will be paying taxes. It is UK's fault for giving them jobseekers allowance.0 -

Whilst there are certainly some migrants who cost the country money there are also many who definitely benefit the country.
Until last year I worked for a foreign firm who employed 25-30 people and this generated a total of around £100k per month tax & NI. They also used services such as printers, rent and advertising, for example, which would have had clear benefits externally.
The senior management and some staff were foreign. It was essential that overseas staff were able to work here. Without them the branch would never have opened. It was operational for around 16 years so that's a bare minimum of more than £16m without taking into account corporation tax and the like.
It closed for reasons unconnected to Brexit.0
