Yes it was once a desirable car but it's got no service history and is in shabby condition. Maybe Mike Brewer will buy it. :rotfl::beer::rotfl:
Some very nice ones here but they have been cared for......

When i said what you put in bold as "i can't afford" .... that was typed up as what he would say to a potential buyer.
potential buyer says "why are you selling"
he says "i can't afford....."
Yes, as simple and as boring as that. I suppose it isn't juicy enough for you though so...Silver-Surfer wrote: »

Maybe an enthusiast would be interested as a restoration project. No SH is a killer on a car like that, and the rust would be a deal breaker for many.
Good luck though0 -

As for ask for about £5k ... probably not. Asking for £5k will mean people will be coming in taking the piddle at £3k. Chancers.
Yeah no service history was declared. 2 previous owners. 97k it turns out, not 95k but doubt it'd make a massive difference that 2k.
In my experience, you get messed around less by putting in a realistic price and make clear you're not open to silly offers. If you put it up for £6k, people will know it's not worth that and will make silly offers. The trick is to convey in your advert that you know it's value by stating all the issues that would affect price up front and make sure the photos cover all areas of damage.
Maybe take it to WBAC to get their final offer and then you can use this as a backstop for any offers. You could state the WBAC value in the add and say it'll go to the best offer over this. Might get a bit of competition going, or you could pretend it has ;-)0 -

If he says that you run a mile as it means "I couldn't afford to service it, change the oil, fit kosher parts for the bits that broke off, and now I can't even afford the tax.... "
You always spin the old line about "the new baby" or the classic "I've got a company car now so I don't use this..."
No-one believes you anyway, they are trying to figure out what is wrong with it, there is always something wrong with a car you are trying to get rid of. You hope it is just too small for the kids or they are ashamed to have a 3 year old car in a snobby neighbourhoodI want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)

lets face it, if it was a good car, worth the asking price it would sell and we wouldnt be having this discussion.
It's obviously not any of the above so price expectations are too high.0 -

I've heard that when you get there though they walk around the car pointing out every single ding & before you know it that £5,100 turns into £5.10.
True or not?
You will probably find that price is because few people input all the damage to the bodywork, no matter how minor.
And of course the lack of Service History means they will likely "chop" a fair bit off of that initial offer.0 -

But on one of these?
Very much so. Lots of people buy these cars with no idea what they are doing, no real research and failing to look after them properly.
Short ownership tends to mean that you've found something about it you don't like (or discovered it's a lemon, or you're actually a car dealer trying to dodge responsibility) and a buyer will naturally be suspicious.
The ideal seller is an enthusiast whose had the vehicle for a while and seems interested enough to look after it. They'll probably also pay over the odds for a good one.0 -
Get it onto the R32 owners club forum For Sale section.
Explain your situation etc
The car is worth more than those above are saying.
Also re rust , if it is on the front arches this is a MK5 Golf known issue , my son had his replaced by VW free of charge.... His is a 2006 GTI0 -
what happened to this car?!0
