I'd agree with advertising it to enthusiasts, on VW forums or Pistonheads. Many people like buying a 'project car' that needs a bit of work as long as they get it for a decent price. Be honest about condition and ask about £5k.
As for ask for about £5k ... probably not. Asking for £5k will mean people will be coming in taking the piddle at £3k. Chancers.
Yeah no service history was declared. 2 previous owners. 97k it turns out, not 95k but doubt it'd make a massive difference that 2k.0 -

Well WBAC are offering £5,075 for an 06 R32 without any service history. They make the assumption it has no damage. He'll be lucky to clear five grand on this car where ever he sella it. Unless another mug comes along.0 -

I've heard that when you get there though they walk around the car pointing out every single ding & before you know it that £5,100 turns into £5.10.
True or not?
Expect it to be knocked down to about £4000 or so and you won't be too badly disappointed.0 -

It's 10 years old - it's going straight to auction.0 -
possibly worth around £3.5k. On a good day.
Short period of ownership will ring alarm bells.
Old, no history, a huge gamble for anyone.
Best advice is to sell it to one of these online companies who will punt it straight to auction.
I recently sold my Volvo V50 to The Car Buying Group. Well used, one owner, 6.5 yrs old with 128000m.
Wasnt without faults, cosmetic and otherwise.
I got £2525 agreed on the phone Weds collected Friday from my office, paid by BACS what was agreed and off to BCA leeds it went.
No haggling on price, I only declared cosmetic faults.
Car now for sale at a dealer for £3995 which considering TGBG, BCA and the dealer need to make a margin is a fair deal for me I think.
No hassle, insurance was up for renewal no worries of any come back. Suited me tosell this way,0 -

But on one of these?
I changed my job meaning i'm getting £100-£200 less per week
I can't afford the £500+ road tax each year
And the high insurance
Bought it because always wanted one & now time to get something cheaper to run.
All sound explanations which are totally belieavable on a car like this.
£3.5k tops though?
lol. Give it 10 more posts & i'll be getting told it'll be 35p tops at this rate :rotfl:0 -

Face facts, it is a banger.
Yes it was once a desirable car but it's got no service history and is in shabby condition. Maybe Mike Brewer will buy it. :rotfl::beer::rotfl:0 -

Just trying to gauge what you classify cars if this R32 is a 'banger'
To me it's a decent car in need of a bit of repair.
Clearly you're more critical0 -

Forget that it's an R32 so it will cost a lot to run (teens to low 20s on the MPG is a regular although when i borrowed it, the first time i drove it i hit 29MPG), the road tax being over £500 so on & so forth
It's constantly had problems & when one is fixed, another arises. Another fairly big problem went wrong with it last night. He's going to get it fixed up but the point is every time something is fixed, something else goes wrong & it's all been costly.
So he just wants to get it fixed & then sell it on & get rid of the headache.JustAnotherSaver wrote: »Oh dear. If i knew WBAC was a reference to those guys i would've said earlier - the car may as well be driven into a brick wall for what they'll pay for it.
This car isn't mine. The owner rushed in to the purchase since he "must buy a car this weekend". Tried talking him out of it but oh well, "must buy car this weekend". Could've got much better for his money if he'd have taken time but "must buy car this weekend".
Young & foolish. You know the routine
So what has your drop in wages got to do with anything?0 -

And so should anyone be buying an R32.
