I totally agree that is what i have always done in the past. it is really just a tool for emergencies like i said earlier or if i have a DD going out but insufficient funds. you know what the bank charges are like. the interest on the CC is small in comparison. .0 -

this concerns me that you are not going to use it for building history.

In this situation, yes. But there may be times, especially when abroad, taking cash is cheaper than using a debit card. I saved cash in America using my Barclaycard to withdraw cash - they offered interest-free same as a purchase!0
