what a ridiculous statement, so what if the OP treats themselves to a 2 grand watch, none of your business what they choose to spend their own hard earned money on. If they are rich, poor, or have just had a windfall and decided to treat themselves is nothing to do with you. They simply came here for advice

Funny how you call my post ridiculous when I am hinting at raising more money for charity, but you are more than happy to not even consider the possible implications of spending 2k on a watch.

Such a topsy turvy world we live in.

But yes, each to their own and if OP wants to buy it then fair enough. But people have the right to hold an opposing opinion, and that doesn't necessarily make it "ridiculous".

Plus, for what its worth I have also offered the legal advice in relation to SOGA/Warranty. May I inquire as to whether you have done the same?

I always find it odd when people say people on a moneysaving site should not spend money on items that cost a bit of money, or that what they choose to buy is too much.
This is a moneysaving site, yes, a site to get the best value for what you want to buy. Some people, it seems, think that it is a spend as little as humanly possible, not on what you want, but on the cheapest thing you can find-site..

I'm sure there must be a market for a misers autonomous website:D

I've just looked up the service cost of a Calibre S complete service and it comes to £370 so the price the OP is being quoted seems more than fair for a repair and service.

The funny thing is that I outright lied about having an apple watch, to see if anyone would draw that conclusion :)

And by doing that, you are a troll and not a hypocrite.
After all, isn't the very definition of trolling, posting false or malicious comments simply in order to get a reaction from other forum users.

Now that you have admitted that you do this, why should other MSE members have any faith in anything else that you post on here?

The TAG watch is not as good as my watch because it is less accurate and less resistant to damage during normal use, but yet costs 20 time more so is not justifiable to me and in my opinion is a waste of money!.

    There, that's more like it.

Spending 2K on a watch is not a lot of money for some people. My OH collects watches and has many, too many in my opinion but the overall cost would give some people a fright. If it's too much for you to contemplate, then fine, but the OP doesn't have to answer to anyone on here.

Hey, if I'm a troll then you are only slightly better for criticising me about my apple watch purchase (which you had no initial reason to suspect was a lie - maybe it isn't a lie after all, it is again none of your business (which I accept as advice from other people's posts in relation to my posts too))!!

This section is "praise, vent and warnings" - I've had my vent.

I've also given SOGA/Warranty advice. And you know what? I can't see a single mention of this in ANY of your posts on here. Absolute joke.

Hey, half the time they don't anyway

The service is just what a TAG service costs. They always recommend it when you get a battery change but I have never thad it done. Mine is 15 years old and has never had one. I now just get the battery changed locally and don't depth charge for £20 from a high quality jeweller in an hour.

I am taking it in for a service this year when I am in Singapore as it can be dropped off and collected within a week, unlike the UK where it has to be sent off for several weeks.

So would just fitting the parts make it work again?

My TAG has worked out at about 11p a day averaging the purchase price and batteries over the ownership period. Hardly a luxury. I was recently offered more than I paid for it as it is a discontinued model but I love it. That said they are 5 times more expensive now then when I bought it.

    October challenge £100 a day. £385/£3100

But nobody has been able to justify why anyone should spend £2000 on a watch that is less accurate and less durable than my £80 one!.
I'm not saying this from a pure cost point of view, I'm saying this purely from a value for money perspective. I would be genuinely interested in what thought pattern someone went through to make them decide that buying a £2000 inferior watch was the best choice.
