New luggage needed

W.e've been using the same cases for years, and they are very nearly beyond use now. They have lost wheels and studs in airports, they let in water, and I'm fed up. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any local stores which have them available to inspect before I buy. Argos have loads but I really don't know what type to buy. Can anyone suggest some brands, what is good to have (wheels, weight etc.) and whether buyng online is the best bet? We usually fly Ryanair, so need to get within their checkin weight. Many thanks, Fred

Matalan. TK Maxx. Sainsbury. Tesco. Asda. I'm sure there are lots more too.
Remember Argos allow refunds if returned within a particular number of days. Distance selling rules also give you rights to return home deliveries.
Reading online reviews can give you an indication too.0 -
I'd suggest a spinner - thats a 4 wheel case rather than a 2 wheel pull along. So much easier to move than an old style case. I have Antler for my hold cases and a samsonite and Tripp hand luggage cabin case. In my opinion the Antler one is best value wise, but the samsonite has lasted longest in the best condition and it has had some serious abuse.
Debenhams, House of Fraser and a couple of other department stores should have display luggage at this time of year so you could go see what you wanted then buy it online cheaper?0 -
The LIDL offerings are usually good enough. They were recently selling hand luggage. They might have one or two left. There were a few different colours when I looked.0

I too have four wheeled Antler luggage for the hold. When your luggage is often 32kgs, it really makes a difference. For hand luggage I use Sub Zero G as they are lighter and therefore better as hand luggage.0 -
Thanks for that. There is a Debenhams and TKMaxx next to each other about 10 miles away, but a much bigger store about 40 miles away. HoF are 65 miles away in Swansea, don't want to go that far. I'll check the smaller ones tomorrow, keeping in mind the brands you suggest. Yes, it would be nice to have a case with more than one wheel!0

Tripp from Debenhams are pretty decent cases. They are always on sale (the RRPs are nonsense) but I think they're pretty good cases for the money.
And in my experience their 5 year guarantee service in-store has been excellent. Completely quibble free.0 -
TKmax have a decent selection of suitcases for decent prices.0

Agree.
Plus Tripp.
I like the 99p shop, but good luggage need to be robust.0 -
I loathe wheeled cases.
This is partly because I live close to a railway station and there's a footpath alongside my place. Waking to birdsong is a lovely way to start the day. Waking to the rumble of someone rushing to get the 04:57 is a somewhat less gentle way to awaken from slumber.
My main gripe, though, is the 'drag behind' cases. These things are lethal in crowds. I've nearly come a cropper many times and have fallen once.
Well, that's got that off my chest.0
