Maximising TSB contactless cashback

In order to use your TSB contactless for payments exceeding £30, you can part pay with cash to bring your bill to £30 or just less and pay the remainder with your contactless card. This is useful when using a £5 off £40 supermarket voucher where the final bill exceeds the £30 limit and you cannot split the shopping up into amounts less than £30.

Would be interested to know which retailer(s) you can do this at. The ones I use regularly will either
- allow more than £30 on contactless, in which case there's only a point to ask about part payments if the amount to pay is greater than £100, or if you have less than £100 'contactless credit' for the month on your TSB card
- not offer any contactless option at all if the amount to pay is greater than £30
How would it work if you wanted to split your payment across two cards?
If you are into using vouchers, why not buy £100 worth of vouchers with your TSB card to start with? It's what I do most months.0 - allow more than £30 on contactless, in which case there's only a point to ask about part payments if the amount to pay is greater than £100, or if you have less than £100 'contactless credit' for the month on your TSB card

Don't know why they are stressing it has to be contactless why not all debit card payments. I image if you are paying for your coffee and sandwich each day contactless it would build up. Do you go into store and buy small amounts of vouchers"Look after your pennies and your pounds will look after themselves"0

I regularly buy Amazon gift cards in £30 bundles, or sometimes the £15 and the rare £10 ones, this makes up half of my spend each month, then I use the other half on petrol, using the vouchers that I get given for buying the gift cards.
Get the £5 and money off my petrol...
Works for me.

Hi Colsten,
Which retailers allow more than £30 on contactless?
Cheers,

Google is quicker than any explanation I can supply.0 -
The vouchers I am referring to are usually £5 of £40 spit out of the till at Tesco`s and Morrisons and also last Friday £5 off £40 at Lidl in the Metro. I have only used cash + contactless card because it is easy for the cashier, so do not know if using 2 cards is feasible. Many thanks to bigadaj for his "viz top tip" - for the unaware try "searching" it - the top tips archive had me laughing for ages!0

Apart from the same Lidl's trick, it seems I can use my TSB contactless card to load £25 onto my Iceland Bonus Card in store. Iceland then gives me an extra £1, which is credited and available to spend within 48 hours.0

All you need to do is separate the shopping on the belt with the divider. Cashiers really dont care. Also at restaurants, its pretty easy to split bills and just use the same card again.0
