in Credit cards
Hello
I made a purchase online with my barclaycard and as a result of me not receiving the item barclaycard placed a temporary refund on my account while an investigation was made .About a week later I eventually received my item and myself and the online company informed barclaycard of this . However inetweeen of the refund and the goods turning up barclaycard reduced my limit on my card.. I spoke to them yesterday and rightly so they are putting the original transaction charge back on the card but that now takes me well over the limit on the card and they have declined the request to change the limit back .
So now when the charge goes back on I will be over my limit and not in a position to pay it all off and am worries about all the charges j may incur
What can I do regarding this or has anyone got any advice !

how big is the difference between the actual credit limit and the over limit balance?
Are you able to pay some/most of it? you don't need to clear the entire bill just enough to bring you back within your limit.
What did Barclaycard say when you were speaking to them. I assume this was a question you put to them when they declined the increase.
You could make an arrangement to pay with them and ask them to freeze charges, this will leave information on your CR as you are not paying/staying within the T&Cs.
Can you do a BT to another card? If not all the balance, then enough to bring the BC within the limit again.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Budgeting & Bank Accounts, Credit Cards, Credit File & Ratings and Energy boards. In my opinion, Barclaycard should now increase the limit by the amount of the transaction. They elected to reduce the limit on the basis of a refund - a refund pending an investigation. They have now reversed the refund - so they should reverse the limit reduction. This is not a new transaction - it went through on the basis of your original authorisation. Had there been no refund, they wouldn't have reduced the limit - CCs can't reduce limits to below your current balance.
So it's now incumbent on them to fix this without any charges/reports.
Given they have refused to do this, I would complain in writing. This situation is not of your making.0 -
I agree with chattychappy on this one. Unlike most over limit scenarios where it is due to the cardholders mismanagement of their finances, your situation is the fault of the card company.
Either try to speak to someone with a bit of authority or perhaps write/email them, explaining exactly what has happened.
Hopefully they will raise the limit to cover your current balance and refund any over limit charges.
Good luck and please report back and let us know how you get on.0
