The question for you now do you want to appeal? £180 looks a lot of money for a simple overstay.
Personally I would challenge it on the NTK as the amount is far too much.REVENGE IS A DISH BETTER SERVED COLD0 -
Why the question earlier about a V?
(Reason I ask is that mine also has a V - well 2 actually - and I used airport parking at Edinburgh recently. When I tried to exit the machine wouldn't recognise the ticket; on checking closer I noticed that the ANPR camera had recorded one V as a Y).
Since this OP came to the forum with his thread I did some research on the accuracy of ANPR which had been done for the Home Office for the police cameras which are now everywhere.
Apparently it is the screw fixings on the number plate which causes the problem. Under infra-red light sources they appear as big black dots and can make a V into a Y and a C into an E.
The second letter on a number plate causes the most problems accounting for 75% of the misreads.
The research paper can be found here.

In my case it's the first and last characters which are V. The ANPR camera registered the last V as a Y.
(Possibly because the front number plate is cracked there following a recent incident when someone reversed into me). 0 -

Good stuff! So have you read the NEWBIES thread and know what to do as an appeal? The registereed keeper (not driver) appeals online each one, using the forum template for now.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

If the signage is still the same as August 2015 from Google Street view the signage was deficient but that's only for starters.
However will get some comprehensive photos on Thursday.REVENGE IS A DISH BETTER SERVED COLD0 -

No proper entrance signage.
You pay for parking time not stay time.
Interesting invitation on the bottom of the pay machine instructions to find a space before paying for your ticket although they measure your time expiry from the entry time. We are in the PE world here!
Signs high up poles rather next to machine.
Comments please.REVENGE IS A DISH BETTER SERVED COLD0 -
The point of sale - the P&D machine - has nothing about the parking charge nor does it tell a driver the risk they face if they make an error in that 'full' VRN so the obligation is unclear.
And the A-Z lettering under each key is tiny to read for someone wearing glasses or in bad light, especially when you consider PE has already captured the VRN and could instead use their technology to display the full registration as soon as you part-enter the VRN...
There appears to be a huge sign completely missing on the right of the P&D machine. Nothing within a hundred yards to tell a driver about the risk of any 'parking charge' so a driver who has paid and carefully displayed a ticket would have no idea that a typo or a fault with the keypad could result in some sort of 'contract' to pay £100.
No contract agreed - not like the Beavis case - signage fails woefully.Interesting invitation on the bottom of the pay machine instructions to find a space before paying for your ticket although they measure your time expiry from the entry time.
Good point to make to POPLA that this is wholly misleading.
- entrance sign - why is it on the right with nothing at all on the left which is the side you drive in? Easily missed by a driver looking at the road ahead and the car park.
Looks very possible never to have seen a sign mentioning the £100.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
