Quick question on credit cards?

Hi all,

I recently got my first credit card (an Aqua one) and have a quick question about paying it off

I got my first statement a few weeks ago and the deadline to pay off the outstanding amount is tomorrow. I have already paid off the full amount it says on the statement with my debit card. However since the statement I have since spent more money on the credit card... am I correct in thinking that this money will go onto the next statement and I'll have to pay it off then?

So as long as I've paid off the full amount shown on the statement by the deadline on the statement that counts as 'paying it off in full' and it will all be ok, even though there is an outstanding balance on the card?

Sorry if this is a really stupid question, I got a credit card to make my credit score better and I don't want to mess anything up and for it to have the opposite effect!

Thanks very much,

Katie

Yes, you only need to clear the statemented amount, not any subsequent spend.

Have you thought about setting up a DD to pay in full? That way the onus is on the bank to take the correct amount, at the correct time.

As stated above you only need to pay off the amount on the statement.
