A strong smell of Kippers to this thread OP, but would have to say were it me in that predicament, I'd be handing my licence in. If not for my own safety, but for everybody else.
Maybe local transport would be a more safer route, at least yo...she could still use her phone.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

Wow. Thank you to the two people who actually answered my question. Whether my friend deserved it or not was never a debate because there is no doubt about that. I was only asking for information. And as Mr.Generous said, I think she always had the "It'll never happen to me" attitude and I'm glad this happened before anyone got hurt too.
However i am also glad I asked here instead of her as she has chronic anxiety and depression and I think some of these comments would have tipped her over the edge.
She did contact the police who confirmed that she would be prosecuted for the mobile phone offence but the offence would be something about not being in control of the vehicle (?) which means she will be receiving a ban. I guess this answers the question of whether the photos get checked though,0 -

Thankfully most people don't normally feel the need to point out the obvious and let the consequences speak for themselves.0 -

i regularly take calls on my phone while driving i have a veery good bluetooth setup. If I receive a call I adopt the least cognitive driving style. So I will just drive straight on and follow the road regardless of what my nav wants to divert me to, take first exit on a roundabout. Or stay in the left lane on motorway and drop speed to 54mph or something.
I do NOT look at my phone screen or make calls on it, and there is no way a speed camera would get any visual inducation that Im on my phone.
Been driving for 4 years and never got any points. I did go on a speed awareness course but that was not while using the phone. I am far less likely to speed while on the phone.
I would suggest your friend deserves the 3 points and if they want to avoid a ban for using the phone while driivng she should just pay it pronto and not appeal the speeding fine or anything.
if he/she needs to drive for work well she/he may find herself out of a job as I am aware that as lot of employers will not take anyone with 9 points. This is so that the employer has some breathing room so if an employee racks up 9 points they can dismiss them in time and find a replacement worker. If they allow people with 9 points to work for them it would create a risky situation where an employee can get 3 points while in employment and get banned and the employer has to fire them immediately and then look for a replacement whiuch could take 2-3 months.0 -

pretty stupid, she brought this offence to their attention. well done.
At least I wont get rear ended by her.0 -
Hi, I am posting this on behalf of a friend. ... the camera that caught her was a fixed speed camera. She currently has 6 points on her licence... She's already been on a driver awareness course before.
Thanks
To quote "Not the Nine O'clock News" ... my advice to you - sorry, my advice to your "friend" - is hand in your license now. You've already got 6 points, plus a SA course, and you failed to notice a fixed camera ???? Now, I'm not claiming to be whiter than white, I don't always stick religiously to the speed limit. But fixed cameras aren't exactly hidden, and if you/your friend can't see them then you really aren't capable of being in control of a car. Without wishing to open up the perennial can of worms that "speed doesn't kill, inappropriate speed does", if you're driving a car then observation and awareness is probably the single most important element of being a safe driver. You were obviously neither observant nor aware of the road conditions around you. Yes, you [STRIKE]will[/STRIKE] should be banned.0 -
I hope "your friend" gets a lengthy ban!0
