Gas Standing Charge is very low on Tracker 15.09p per day in my region compared with most tariffs, moving out of Winter Tracker tariff appears prudent choice for most people, however there are those who believe due to policies Gas will keep on increasing in price and thus 2 year fix is prudent with for example Zog

If only one could answer such a question! There are indications that gas often gets cheaper in the summer only to jump higher in the winter. In this case it is a matter of comparing both the unit costs and the standing charges in order to judge when to switch from fixed to variable. I use a spreadsheet (and crystal ball) to do this - Octopus have agreed with me that looking at the lump sums in their Tracker "demo" can give misleading results though the graphs are interesting.
I have yet to come across Zog in any of the search engines. They sound very exclusive ..Telegraph Sam

Read the Utility Point thread first before joining just to see what you're getting yourself into (Main issue is delay in credit refunds when leaving)0

Just had a look at Zog, they're more expensive than the fixed tariff I mentioned earlier in our area. I'll add it to my list though cheers.Pennies holding up the Pounds.0

For me Tracker is currently on a par with the best of the fixed tarifs, and better than their own fixed rate at present. Tracker are forecasting a rates decrease over the coming months - but forecasts are only forecasts and it might be that they are just using last year's data as a basis for the coming year.Telegraph Sam
