It's real swings and roundabouts stuff. I am gradually coming round to the view that the Go (not Faster) might be the best deal since their peak time tariff is "only" 12.93 p and this compensates for the 25p daily charge. But do you need a smart meter for Go (as well as for Go Faster) and Tracker?Tracker operates fine with as well as without a Smart Meter, all Go variations require a Smart MeterMy Region is North West, this is todays tracker rates random postcode in North EastOctopus Tracker v1 ElectricityUnit rate: 13.40 p/kWh Standing charge: 18.73 p/day

Thanks. Tracker does indeed look worthy of further investigation. Where do you go in order to get the details and data that you have sent me an extract of?Telegraph Sam

Put postcode in, do not click get quote, list of tariffs should load, scroll until you see tracker tariff more than a dozen tariffs down listings shows most recent/current day depending on what time of the day it is looked up, https://octopus.energy/tariffs/ (Those who are on Tracker Tariff see current day on account dashboard from Midnight of forthcoming day)

Done it tks. Looks like you can only see the "current" daily costs, not get any historical background like what you quoted earlier? Ideally one would be able to get a feel for what the "average" is and whether there are seasonal rather than minor daily variations.Telegraph Sam

Ideally one would be able to get a feel for what the "average" is and whether there are seasonal rather than minor daily variations. You seemingly if you wish to can check out the daily rates until your switch completesI think if you contact Octopus they will give you an average rate quote/illustration, I would rather go by what the rates are today and ongoing days being if it shoots up can switch tariffs0

In fairness to Octopus their site does indeed give me their prediction compared with my current costs, very efficiently. I have however asked about historical prices just to get an idea. Sure thing is that if these shoot up it will be just after I have switched to the Tracker. Looks interesting thoughTelegraph Sam

Based on your historical experience do you get the feeling that today's costs are relatively on the high rather than the low side?Telegraph Sam

This may be useful if you want to see estimated costs on their tracker plan: https://peter-thomson.com/octopus-energy/octopus-energy-intro.html
Sam you seem convinced you want to join octopus, but keep looking at smart meter based plans, but then not wanting a smart meter, now wanting a tracker where prices change daily! I'm very interested to see where you end up!!0
