I have a variable direct debit and they credited the whole lot to my account which makes sense! I'm in credit because I paid my previous government grant straight in and over the summer I've been getting paid more for my export than my import.

A roundabout way. The original credit should still show up explicitly in my online Octopus a/c if I follow the reasoning  correctly.

It will be interesting - to say the least - to see how customers cope when the government support comes to an end and the whole rigmarole is reversed.

Apart from the obvious “my greedy energy supplier is putting up my bill for no reason” threads that we will get?
  • Been with Octopus since Avro Energy went bust.Live in 2 bedroom semi just wife and me both retired.Just got September 22 bill from Octopus and unbelievably our estimate for next 12 months is 2544 for electricity ALONE and 1969 for gas making a total of
4513 for the year so 376 monthly or if I take off the 400 grant is 4113 or 342.75 monthly.
Have been paying 218.08 monthly so this is a bit of a shock.
Has anyone else had such a huge rise ???

It will happen, give them time. It's all new and Octopus have a lot of customers who pay by lots of different methods.

I'm set up for variable DD with Octopus too and my credit isn't showing yet. I'll worry if that doesn't change by the end of the month.

I'm also like Spies and have credit from summer's solar import payments, I haven't actually paid a DD since I moved to Octopus in April. I'll probably get my first bill for Christmas  :#

Looks like the account credits are hitting accounts today, my DD isn't due until the 15th, but the credit arrived on my Octopus account an hour or so ago.

Nothing in my account yet. I'm still waiting for them to generate my bill, 48 hrs the email said, 132 hrs later, still no bill.

Credit has hit my account today as well:

Incidentally I don't think I've ever had an email to say what is happening with the Tracker tariff, perhaps because I'm only on Tracker for gas. I had one for Go where there is no change but not gas where there is a minor change.
  • All is forgiven, £66  has now appeared on my Octopus account (without any bank involvement) This has covered my last 2 months' invoices so the world is a better place.
