Octopus Energy reviews: Give your feedback

Thanks. It is an Aurora Power One. There is a display screen read out and various input control buttons but since it was installed I have deliberately avoided fiddling about. Is the management app designed for DIY installation and use, or could this already be installed but unknown to me?Telegraph Sam
There are also unknown unknowns - the one's we don't know we don't know0 -
Yes, depending on your EV usage you might be better off on the Octopus Intelligent tariff. Octopus through its systems will inform your car when to charge to meet your desired SoC at departure timesilvercar said:Having just bought a Tesla and had a podpoint charger fitted, I’m thinking of moving first to octopus and then to the octopus go tariff. Currently with ovo who fitted a SMET2 meter.
can anyone see any flaw with this plan?

I know I have a week to submit them, but has anyone actually managed to submit meter readings today?MWT said:tlcgrantham said:NON SMART METER BENEFIT?
“Make a note of your readings or take a photo of them on Saturday. When we receive THIS READING we will apply it to your account from midnight on the Saturday.”
Does that mean up to 23hrs 59min energy at cheaper rates?Octopus are not putting their prices up until 00:00 on the 2nd, so yes, compared to most other suppliers there is an extra day at the old variable rate.As an extra bonus, when you submit your meter reading on the Saturday, it will be used as the 00:00 reading that day, so you'll gain a bit extra use on Saturday itself at the old rate.
I'm just getting a pink moving line, equivalent of the blue spinning circle I assume, when logged in.0 -
Yes, I submitted my mother's readings to her account around 10am today without any issues. The pink moving line, as you assumed, is because the site is busy.badger09 said:

I've got a smart meter, but used the website early this morning to do my spin of surprises and make a debit card payment, and all seemed well. It may be a case of finding a quieter time.badger09 said:

Telegraph_Sam said:Interesting. My 16 panel system output is 4 kWp, no battery. Orientation is similar to yours but location is a few hundred miles north (the odd sunny day is not unknown). 1 wash load takes 2 + hours. Low energy room dehumidifier provides the drying. I could next time try using the panels as source. That should work. My washing machine has a delay timer so I can set it to wash in the early afternoon before I leave home to go to work (there's usually someone home but, from experience, I know they're not very reliable at turning things on!).
I've got a smart meter, so I can see the half-hourly data on Octopus or the Bright app or grab it from n3rgy.com - there are lots of options. As you're on Octopus Go you should have all three available to you, too.How did you measure the 0.5 kW consumption? And can you measure the actual output of the panels?
As others have said, a modern inverter will tell you. Mine's in the loft and old enough not to have any connectivity byond a local RS232C port so instead I've got two ancient CT clamp monitors. One is a Humm Minim that monitors the solar generation, the other is a Current Cost CC128 that gives me an instantaneous readout of my total import/export. The CC128 can't discriminate between import and export, but if the IHD reads zero I know I'm exporting!I was hoping the smart meter IHD would replace the CC128 but sadly it doesn't display export, although my smart meter itself does record it.(Bonus random fact - Humm later became Geo, who made my IHD.)N. I submitted my meter readings last night online, for me it was usual practice as I sub them on the last day of the month to generate an accurate bill.
I had the pink line a few times but left the page open and occasionally refreshed, and it went through fine. Considering the amount of readings they received, the system appears to have held up fairly well.
I've not had the bill yet via email but I suppose the computing power is only finite, and they don't expect a "Glastonbury" situation every day where they get lots of traffic in one go.
It is somewhat irresponsible of ML to suggest everyone does something on one date, the takeaway should have been give a reading at some point during this week, and it would have probably balanced the load out.
I'm quite curious to know why people want to hang on the phone though? Even when I wasn't with Octopus they had an automated reading line where you could key in the numbers from your reading without needing to talk to anyone.

Thanks all who replied. Managed to submit readings about 30 minutes ago0

Octopus has just sent an estimated bill before I've had a chance to submit readings. The estimate is higher for both fuels than the actual readings I've just taken. Am I OK to just let it ride and submit readings later when they go past the estimate? Or is this fraud?1
