Yesterday?I don't know if they'll send out a separate notification to customers, I assumed not and was expecting just to see the credit applied to my bill. I dusted off my IHD and made a note of usage at the beginning and end of the period to know where I stood.
By default it uses the same data as Octopus, but it can be configured to use n3rgy ( https://data.n3rgy.com/consumer/home ) if you sign up, although personally I've not had any success getting the Guy Lipman site authorised to access the n3rgy feed. I've found n3rgy to be more reliable where Octopus has gaps in the data. If you access direct, the data can be downloaded in spreadsheet format.jessmist said:Also I have a older BG smet1 meter. Recently I have been able to see my usage through my octopus account. But some days the data doesn't appear.
How does the https://energy.guylipman.com/sm/admin work ?
Would that be any better ?
Thanks1 -
Is that 10 kWh for the whole day? Because only a fraction of that will be consumed during the 16:30-18:30 window. If you were asked to save 0.93 kWh, then that suggests your normal usage between 16:30-18:30 is 2.32 kWh, and that you'd need to reduce this to 1.39 kWh to qualify. It sounds like you should qualify if you didn't have any high load appliances on during that time, but the amount of free energy you won will also be small.wild666 said:
I have the same save 0.93 kWh between 16.30 & 18.30 seems simple as my average usage is around 10 kWh on a Thursday as the daughter cleans for me and has the dryer on for around 80 minutes in those times. This week she isn't cleaning as she has C-19.BeerSavesMoney said:I got the same email today for electricityI guess I’ll go to the gym and save 20p on the electricity bill 🤣Turn down window: 4:30pm - 6:30pm on 24/02/2022Your target: reduce your usage by 0.5 kWhThis is 40% less than you'd normally use across the two hours. This is based on smart meter data showing you normally use 1.26 kWh over the period.

Works fine for me. I have Secure SMETS1 meters and the HH data is missing for gas at the moment via the Octopus API, so I use n3rgy via Guy Lipman's site.masonic said:jessmist said:Will Octopus tell customers soon if they managed to use less electricity through the 2 hour window

It's the same with my SMETS 1 BG meter it normally happens on a Wednesday but it has happened once or twice on other days like last week it was Saturday and the week before it was Sunday. This week it's being Wednesday.jessmist said:Will Octopus tell customers soon if they managed to use less electricity through the 2 hour window

I keep a spreadsheet of my daily usage and monthly electric and gas so I have to just guess the days when it doesn't show the daily readings, and apply an estimate to the spreadsheet then recalculate the figure at the end of the month.Someone please tell me what money is1 -

ThanksStrange, I just get the response {'Message': 'User is not authorized to access this resource with an explicit deny'}Using the same IHD MAC used to view the data direct on n3rgyEdit: figured it out, MAC is case sensitive and must be entered in UPPER CASE1 -
I am interested whenever there is a reference to Guy Lipman and / or n3rgy. I have explored the former but not in great depth. Instead I have got into the routine of downloading the Octopus (leccy only) data via "Explore my energy use", shoving it through a macro, and reading / recording the (Go Faster split) totals in monthly spreadsheets. If I thought GL / n3rgy could offer any advance on this I would pursue it but I can remember getting bogged down with n3rgy. Horses for courses I suppose.Telegraph Sam

I'm trying to find out - if Octopus put up our D/D then do we have to pay that or can we haggle? I can't seem to find the answer and as pensioners we're a bit worried about this. I see some people saying their payments have gone seriously high. Anybody know?

Anybody know?Octopus are very flexible when it comes to the DD payments, you can set your own DD payment using the option in your online account, and as long as you keep your account balance positive you are unlikely to hear from them.It is important to stay positive though, don't set a low DD and then run up a debt...

You could always ask to be switched to variable direct debit and pay for exactly what you use each month.2

I've got the same offer/challenge. Should be fairly easy; Mrs QrizB and the Experiments are going away for the weekendmasonic said:Looks like the first turn down event is in for me, tomorrow 4:30-6:30pm, reduction of 40% meaning I could get up to 20p of energy free if I can nudge my usage right up to the limit. Good job I'm only doing it for the challenge! It seems a bit silly that I have to ensure that I use as much energy as possible within the limit for the best outcome. I could easily use a lot less than my target, which would be better for the cause.Received the email from Octopus today telling me how well I've done. I did well enough that my residual usage was essentially zero
so I wasn't expecting to get much credit.Turns out they've decided that everyone who hits their target will get a minimum of 20p credit, so there's 20p coming my way sometime soon. Also, they offered a change to the incentive; you can choose to be paid for the energy you *don't* use, rather than for the remaining energy that you do use. I've switched to that incentive for the next Big Dirty Turn Down.
