Telegraph_Sam said:Oh ye of little faith. I'd be interested to hear if for anyone it was worth it and if so in what circs.I'd imagine it would take a consumption profile like mine, but flipped in time, to make it worth it for the saving. Someone with an average customer profile would not do well out of this. Anyone who normally uses 100% of their energy during the turn down window, could potentially save 60% if they load-shifted the other 40%.

I misread it and thought it was for later on.
So I'm now half an hour off the end of the two hours and have made no changes at all.
Oh well. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
"Anyone who normally uses 100% of their energy during the turn down window, could potentially save 60% if they load-shifted the other 40%."
But if they are already load shifting as much as they can to the off peak period, then there will be precious little scope to do more? Without really feeling the pinch.
As a matter of interest where did the all-singing graph come from?Telegraph Sam
There are also unknown unknowns - the one's we don't know we don't know0 -

Without really feeling the pinch. If they are load-shifting away from the peak period then their average usage during the turn-down window will already be low. If this is cut by 40% to meet the target, then the amount of free energy it is possible to get from the promotion would be minimal.

My grid import for the trial period yesterday was zero. A success from one point of view but a failure from another

I have found Octopus to be good in many respects, and the app is handy and bug free.
I had to complain about some shenanigans they were doing when I requested the fixed variable rate figures in Jan when I was coming off a fixed tariff - they messed me about and in the end a complaint ended in a £20 voucher for fuel bill.0 -
Will Octopus tell customers soon if they managed to use less electricity through the 2 hour window
Yesterday?
Also I have a older BG smet1 meter. Recently I have been able to see my usage through my octopus account. But some days the data doesn't appear.
How does the https://energy.guylipman.com/sm/admin work ?
Would that be any better ?

I signed up for this and they asked me to save 0.93 kWh between 16.30 and 18.30 that wouldn't be too dificult for me to do as I go out on the night they wanted me to save the energy, I just went out an hour earlier so I might save the 0.93 kWh that I normally use when watching a series on Netflix.Telegraph_Sam said:My prediction is that this will not be one of Octopus's most successful promotions. If it is tied up in strings which we try to interpret in forums like these then that is hardly a recipe for success. It is guesswork what exactly it is trying to achieve. In comparison Power Hour's terms are relatively straight forward even if the timing is uncertain till 24 (?) hours in advance. May be this latest one will be simpler in practice than in theory. I might try it but gut feeling tells me that in my situation there will not be much to show for it / much lost if I give it a miss.Someone please tell me what money is0 -
I have the same save 0.93 kWh between 16.30 & 18.30 seems simple as my average usage is around 10 kWh on a Thursday as the daughter cleans for me and has the dryer on for around 80 minutes in those times. This week she isn't cleaning as she has C-19.BeerSavesMoney said:I got the same email today for electricityI guess I’ll go to the gym and save 20p on the electricity bill 🤣Turn down window: 4:30pm - 6:30pm on 24/02/2022Your target: reduce your usage by 0.5 kWhThis is 40% less than you'd normally use across the two hours. This is based on smart meter data showing you normally use 1.26 kWh over the period.Someone please tell me what money is0
