Yes the referral board is gone which is a shame, it hasn't been replaced. We are not allowed to post referral codes in threads as it is against forum rules.Telegraph_Sam said:It looks like SO Energy have replaced their Birch gas tariff, which was quite attractive, with "Cherry" which is less so.
It looks like Igloo offers dual fuel only with their Pioneer variable tariff, not just gas.
I had intended to make use of the Referral Board but now understand that this has been withdrawn. Strange. Has it been replaced with something else? And/or do the MSE rules still forbid quoting referral codes in threads such as these?Presumably MSE prefers to get commission from CEC referrals rather than see it shared out between forumites. The focus seems to be shifting from Money Saving Expert to Money Making Expert.

I would suggest you make a decision soon. Prices are only going up, even if its just fixing with octopus for now to ensure you lock in a rate. (you can always move elsewhere at any time after that)Telegraph_Sam said:Presumably via PM's to individual forumites to the rescue at decision time? In present circs a referral could make the difference between switching and doing nothing.0 -
You won't believe ... that I have now booked an appt to have both the meters upgraded to smart but with the gas running in dumb mode. I have told CS that I wish to switch to Go Faster. For the present I am less concerned about fixing the gas in view of the lack of an obvious alternative and low consumption, but this will have to be reviewed over the next month or two.Telegraph Sam

.. you will regret not fixing the gas now...The point about fixing it now with Octopus is because you have low consumption the risk is also low as even if the tracker moves a bit lower you lose pretty much nothing. If you fix and a new lower price fix is available you just move to it.The one thing you can't do is move to a fix that they have withdrawn, so once you decide to fix, taking the best available now from Octopus is always the better choice, waiting adds nothing to your options and risks removing options that you have now....0 -
Can't really argue with that. No point in comparing Octopus Tracker with other variable tariffs. Which do you reckon is the least worst gas fix currently on offer, smart or not smart, Octopus or elsewhere? I think that Octopus themselves have several to choose from.
PS It now looks like you can't get a quote for gas only from Octopus. I suppose one can take the gas element of Octopus-Fixed by itself?Telegraph Sam

If I understand correctly that means that you yourself have NOT gone for a fixed rate gas tariff? I think that the "strategy" must be to anticipate gas price rises by October.Telegraph Sam

Telegraph_Sam said:I didn't know you could do that!If you have tracker tariff for both fuels you can change to another tariff for both fuels via your online account, if you want to leave E on tracker and put gas on fixed you would need to ask Octopus to do that split for youOctopus fixed Gas kwh rates for my region, 3.25p/3.30p Super Green, Energy Cap is 3.315p kwh, Standing Charge 26.59 is pretty much up to cap level (Octopus apparent current policy is to keep all its tariffs below energy cap level)
British Gas Standard tariff Gas my region
Standard unit rate 3.315p per kWh Standing charge 26.601p per day1
