Yes the opportunity to move to a cheaper fixed deal at Octopus has probably passed now with the most recent price rises bringing other tariffs in line with current Tracker rates.Telegraph_Sam said:Even at current rates Tracker still seems (for me) to be cheaper than the Octopus fixed alternatives. I have not worked through every one but now that I see the filters this makes the job more practicable.

Think if you are staying with octopus then tracker has now become your best bet in general sam.0

I would still urge you to think about octopus go faster, despite the rate increase. I know there is the stumbling block about you not being keen on a smart meter.Telegraph_Sam said:Even at current rates Tracker still seems (for me) to be cheaper than the Octopus fixed alternatives. Looking at my numbers, my daily Kw/h rate when i am charging my electric car averages to 8p/kwh.
When i am not doing any EV charging my rate averages at 11p/kwh (using 13kwh for the day) - the only change in "behaviour" is to ensure we do the washing machine/drying after 8.30pm rather than during the day time.
This is far below tracker will achieve, and i havne't had to change my behaviour much at all. Even looking at their peak rate now increasing by just under 2p/kwh, my daily average charge would only increase to 12p/kwh.
I would strongly suggest you think about octopus go faster.....if still not convinced I would suggest you leave octopus and go to someone like neon reef!0 -
Thanks for the suggestions. I am still waiting for my latest Tracker invoice to arrive. Last time I was agreeably surprised.
The jury is still out. But I have now had some contact with Neon and they might be my next port of call.(for electricity) based on what I have heard about them in this forum.Telegraph Sam

Been with them a year. Dual fuel. The original switch went smoothly.
Account online is simple to understand and use.
The game is a bit of fun, but a bit pointless.I won 2 x £1 on my 24 meter readings this year so free money is worth having I suppose.
The end of my 12m deal was clearly communicated. The end of deal email had various links to compare with others, that didn't work property. Probably my own complaint and its something I don't expect to be hand held for anyway.
The deals offered are much higher than previous deal but when I did a bit of research seemed inline with others and there's no exit fees. So I re-signed for another 24m.
Overall they've been as good as my previous supplier OVO , who I only left as Octopus prices were better for me a year ago.

I am probably going to join Octopus, after being transferred to Eon Next from nPower. However, I have questions :
They say there is no exit charge , but does this apply to transfers between their own tariffs ? Two scenarios come to mind.:
1) If you are on a fixed tariff and a better one crops up, can you change cost free ?
2) If someone signs up now for a 24 month fix and during the mandatory cooling off period , a better fix is announced, can they transfer without going through the application again (cost free) ?

Yes, you can switch between any of their tariffs without a charge, including all the fixed tariffs.teddysmum said:I am probably going to join Octopus, after being transferred to Eon Next from nPower. However, I have questions :

Yes to 1), not sure about 2). Might be possible but you might have to join on the original tariff and then you can switch to the newer tariff immediately with no penalty. Not that a cheaper fix is likely to happenteddysmum said:I am probably going to join Octopus, after being transferred to Eon Next from nPower. However, I have questions :

If someone signs up direct to Octopus website to any of the 3 Tariffs on quote page and then becomes aware either by looking at list of tariffs https://octopus.energy/tariffs/ ( put postcode in dont click get quote, use filter facility) or word of mouth that a cheaper tariff is available via comparison site only need to contact Octopus whether during cooling off period or anytime afterwards asking to change to cheaper tariff. e.g Octopus Exclusive 24M Fixed May 2021 v1Umiamz said:

I have been considering switching electricity from Tracker to Neon Reef. Is there a forum that does for Neon what this forum does for Octopus?Telegraph Sam
