Bought a car from Arnold Clark Dundee 1 year ago. Car had just been serviced and mot'd and came back with not even a single advisory at point of sale. Took out the service, care and mot plan, and at first visit it came back with a list of faults. Everything from snapped suspension spring, faulty lights front and back, failed seat belt, broken break shoe and more. They then told me that the parking break cable they inspected a year ago was completely rusted and sheered. Hard to believe it was parked on a steep hill out of gear that morning. Arnold Clark either just pass any car they intend to sell with flying colors regardless of safety or condition , or they are dishonest enough to falsify faults that unsurprisingly enough are not covered in their care plan.
I'm not defending Arnold Clark but a lot can go wrong with a car in a year, taking a car for an MOT with faulty lights points to a lack of basic maintenance, brakes can wear out in a year, how long they last is down to driving style, suspension springs can break, again can be down to driving style, speed bumps (taking too fast) and using the the car on terrain it's not designed for, shutting a seat belt in the door can damage a seat belt, can't explain the handbrake fault but only an idiot would park on a steep hill and only rely on the handbrake to hold the car.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0 -

It really is amazing how many new posters have unbelievable tales of woe concerning Arnold Clark!
If the posts could be believed perhaps they might impact on the Arnold Clark Business.
But repeated Jackanories do nothing to harm Arnold Clark IMHO
I only know two people that have bought from Arnold Clark and neither had any problems.0 -

My car (bought second hand) was services by Arnold Clark from new and none of the paperwork suggests any wrong doings, serviced as schedule and any parts replaced were as you would expect to be done at certain mileage or age (late 61 plate with 88K when I bought it)I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0 -

You live in Scotland, where an aluminium bar would rust, so there's no surprise your brake cable has0
