There may be a lot of things on TV to complain about, but in the grand scheme I think this really is way down the list ........ Probably just about breaks into the top 250000 just a few places below the heinous crime of groups miming on Top of the Pops and scenes that are unsuitable for children on Judge Judy.

Well look at the positive side.

If people are that thick to do it, by the definition of Darwinism, they will die out before they can pass on the information on how it is done.

I'm going to complain about the Ribena advert that may make people tie baby hedgehogs to balloons and set them off in the air.

If you cook on a gas stove in your car, you're probably doing the world a favour by removing yourself from the gene pool. I can't even stomach the energy to even remotely care about such trivalities.

And yet you care enough to post about it.

But theyre not using it in a tent are they? That looks like a large estate car and probably bigger than the VW camper vans and other smaller camper vehicles which also have gas stoves in them.

So Ill ask you , what is the difference between a large car and a small camper van?

Also OP how do you feel about campervans such a VW T4's etc. Just think how many of them have a gas cooker installed in the back and have you ever heard of someone being exposed to carbon monoxide from cooking on one of them?.

Well presumably if the stove is installed in the van/caravan - it will have a ventilation system and if maintained properly should be safe. However a quick Google shows plenty of warning pages from the likes of the Camping and Caravan Club saying don't take a barbecue into your tent/van/awning and news reports of people who didn't think (like this http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/four-young-children-treated-for-carbon-1519474 one).

Sadly, there probably are also people daft enough to light a disposable barbecue in the back of a people-carrier because it was raining and they couldn't do it on the beach or wherever they had set off to.
I need to think of something new here...
  • Amazed at the ridiculous comments here.

This is all about the responsibilities of advertising companies to not show dangerous practices.

The fact that people do dangerous things is irrelevant.

Adverts are regulated and are supposed to avoid showing such dangerous acts as using a gas stove in a confined space.

A perfectly reasonable requirement I'd have thought.

I've seen a few professionally converted camper vans and there has been no extra ventilation installed and I have never heard of this causing any problems.

Bringing a barbecue into a confined space is a completely different issue because people assume it has gone out. They then go to sleep and the carbon monoxide builds up and kills them.

But just because adverts are not supposed to show dangerous acts doesn't mean that everyone has to agree with this. There are plenty of TV programs that show extremely dangerous activities so why is an advert any different (as long as they arnt actively encouraging people to do it).
