Irresponsible tv advert for Danish Bacon (carbon monoxide)

I don't know if I'm putting this in the right place but here goes.
There's a new advert on tv showing a couple in the pouring rain in a car which is hanging over a cliff.
It's for Danish bacon.
It's not the perilous nature of the car teetering over the edge that's the problem here though.
They are sitting in a car, windows up, cooking bacon on a camping gas stove.
A stupid thing to show on TV because if anybody was to copy this, they'd probably be dead in minutes due to carbon monoxide poisoning.
I'm just amazed that this made it onto television.
I even considered doing a complaint to the ASA but when I went on the website, it was asking for too much personal information.
Obviously there will be loads of people coming on here saying that we shouldn't be nannying and that people don't copy everything they see on tv, give people credit for not being stupid, etc, etc.
My point is that some people might just do that, however stupid it may be, and surely it's good practice to not show a dangerous thing such as this during an advert.
A year or two ago, a couple of people died on holiday in a tent doing a similar thing, although I think it was a barbecue they'd brought in and zipped it up.
I can just imagine maybe a group of young people going out to the beach in a car, for example, and oblivious to the dangers, maybe deciding to cook in the same way as it's raining outside.
Not everybody is aware of how fast carbon monoxide kills.

So you are fine with people teetering over a cliff in their car,as long as they have a packed lunch?0
-
Yeah 'cos one is drama, and doesn't matter. the other is a dangerous practice being shown to a wide audience! I would imagine you could figure out why one is ok and the other not!0

What about people who die from bringing extinguished BBQs into tents?
Sometimes you simply can't warn everyone not to do things. Given the ca is teetering over a cliff,do you really expect folks to take it as advice?0 -
Sorry, I can't even begin to reply to the inadequacy of your argument.
I'm not complaining about the drama. I don't think people will watch the ad and drive off a cliff because they watched it.
It's about the standards of what should be allowed to be shown on TV just as you would not see a car ad with a person driving along talking on a mobile.
Can you really not understand the difference???0 -

I give up!
I think you are either thick or trolling. I hope it's the latter but suspect it may be the former.0 -

You seem to not be able to accept that someone has a different opinion to you.
It doesn't make them thick.
Stropping like a 2 year old not getting their own way,well..............0 -
Well I'd rather drift off 'to sleep' from carbon monoxide than crash and possible burn at the bottom of a cliff.0

Why not make a complaint to the ASA?Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0 -
I have not seen the advert but I do agree with the OP that it may well be dangerous in terms of the bbq, as I do think people may copy the idea.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0
