Toyota question
We are thinking of buying a second hand Toyata Yaris 2009 £4,500 31,775 miles 1.33.
A) Is this reasonable price it has parking sensors as an extra?
We are buying from a Toyota dealer and we get one years parts and labour warranty bearing this in mind do we still need to get a mechanic to check it?

I have no idea on the price.
Is the car Toyota Approved Used, with genuine Toyota used warranty?, if so thats about as good as you'll get anywhere.0 -
It's 7 years old which makes it a bit pricey, however it has a nice low millage, comes from authorised dealer with a guarantee and assuming it has a full service history it looks like a safe buy
Make sure you do a HPI check and give it a test drive0 -
It comes up time and time again, low mileage is not always good.
A lot of owners ignore service intervals if they do low mileage, where the manual might say 12'000 or 12 months (as an example), these owners just see 12,000 mile and basically don't service the damn thing for 3/4/5 years. Short journeys are worse for a car than thrashing the nuts off it, a car in that situation needs more regular servicing NOT once every 12'000 miles.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

The dealer will do that.
As said above, it's strong money but a reliable buy.0 -
My wife has a 2013 Yaris 1.33, which has done about 15,000 miles. Great little car. Indeed, her friend liked it so much, she went out and bought one also.
Its a small engine, so warms up pretty rapidly - so not as affected by short trips as it might be.
Make sure it's had its annual service. Toyota still have an old fashioned service book.
If it has aircon, make sure it works. It's not super powerful even when new, but does do the job.0 -
Check out the MOT history at https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/
On a low mileage car, you might see advisories about surface pitting on the brakes, and tyres degrading rather than being worn out. Both are normal and fine as long as the dealer has sorted them out before resale.0 -
Is it this one?
My first thought was it sounds a bit expensive for a 7 year old car, but to be fair similar cars are in the same ball park elsewhere. They must hold their value quite well and main dealers are never going to be the cheapest anyway. Is the warranty backed by the dealer or is it an insurance based warranty from a 3rd party (often not worth the paper they are printed on).
The only negatives I see are the alloys look a bit scuffed and I'm not convinced of the added value of parking sensors on a car that tiny and easy to park in the first place.

I wouldn't touch that car with a barge pole.
Look at the wheel trim they have pictures in the advert, scuffed all the way round, what are the others like?
Looks like a low mileage car that has been treated like a white good.
Useful only to those who think a low mileage car is better than any other purely due to the mileage.
There is also damage on the wheel arch evident in the picture of the scuffed wheel trim.
I would go for something like this.

Four years newer and the later model.
Will still have two years Toyota Warranty left.
And only £1599 more.
Seems a no brainer.
Mileage means little on a well maintained vehicle and Toyotas are pretty reliable cars.0 -

Firstly thank you all.
Secondly isn't the tax a lot more on the other one? £80 more per year so it over 10 years it would cost £800 more in tax plus the extra £15,0000 -

That one hasn't been serviced for 19,000 miles. Is that the correct interval? You can pick your friends and you can pick your nose but you can't pick your friend's nose.0
