Sat 7th/Sun 8th May - what small DFW things will you do this weekend?

Evening all
Thanks for the start PF - I was up not long after you, though to the dog these days as opposed to the children :rotfl:
Legomum and Mr BB, hope you recover from your injuries soon. What bad luck
Not done as much as I had intended today as DD and little GD turned up to 'help'
No heating and no wood burner
Tidied round a bit
2 loads of washing (1 almost dried on line, but must finish off on the airer, as it started to rain, I got it in - and then it came out sunny again, but I cba to put it back out again!) Other load can go out tomorrow (only just finished)
Bit of gardening - sowed some mixed hardy annuals in the front garden pots, and some sunflowers between the minaret fruit trees along the back fence, watered all the pots and hanging baskets and renewed my teabag / olbas oil cat deterrents in the front garden (thanks to Mrs F for this tip).I don't have a problem with cats in the back garden as micro-mutt patrols this conscientiously. Not sure what would happen if he actually met a cat though - he spent ages stalking and growling at something crawling on the dining room floor this afternoon. When I investigated, the prey turned out to be a small fly, which flew away once it had finished doing whatever it was on the dining room floor :rotfl:
Cooked a chicken, had some for dinner, lots left for further mealsUsed up some leftover sweet potato mash instead of cooking fresh veg
Walked everywhere today - no excuses to use the car, it was mostly nice weather and I didn't have anything heavy to carry
Sat in the garden while GD played, with a walk to feed the ducks and play in the park in between
Read outside for a while after they had gone, while the chicken was cooking
Nice, if rather lazy day. Envying the accounts of exciting diving / sailing trips - not sure about hanging from ropes though  I have travelled quite a lot, but generally for work, on my own, and often in quite stressy situations. Quite happy at home now mostly!0 -

PurpleFairy Thank you for starting us off this weekend.
Lego Mum ouch, wishing you a speedy recovery, hope everyone pitches in to help out.
Ally Congratulations on being debt free for a year :j
Thank you for the messages regarding OH, unsurprisingly he is in a lot of pain, in addition to the tablets he has had 4 hot water bottles and 2 long showers to ease his back. He has kept his sense of humor, at one point today he was trying to stand up and as a result of the many shapes he threw in his attempt we both ended up laughing. I was going to read Saturday's posts and then go to sleep but I have decided to post as I need to give OH his painkillers in half an hour as he is unable to be able to turn over and reach the tablets & water and even if he does manage he is likely to wake me in the process  much less disruptive if I wake up and pass him everything.
Saturday:
Opened the curtains fully
Closed curtains before it got dark
Finally turned off upstairs heating, due to the thermostats it would of hardly been on, but now it can't come on as it is off at both the room thermostats and the boiler, that way we won't put it on without consciously planning the temperature we want in each room and at what times of day.
NSD
Checked FPL
Meals from stores
Stuck to the meal plan
Reusable sanitary wear
Set DW to run overnight, not enough dirty laundry for a full load so no WM to deal with
PAD into savings £3.66-1p
Educate children for free
Entertain children and us for free
Wash hair and leave to dry naturally
No heating, we have jumpers and blankets
Use shampoo that has been sitting in the cupboard for a while that I'm not keen on (I can't remember if it was a gift or a freebie) as opposed to the cheaper one I prefer, when it is finished it will have saved me some money as well as decluttered an empty bottle from the house
Ongoing project:
Cull 100 emails
Keep up to date with destroying confidential wasteFashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

Morning all :hello:
It sunny (and that free) so very :money: alreadyplanning a day in the garden today (save for taking DD to party). We were out yesterday until the rain came. Luckily I'd dried 3 loads by the time the rain came. Two more to do and dry out today and then all washing will be up to date including all bedding washed and changed :T
Today will also consist of:
Packaging more fleabay sales, possibly walk to post office
Meals from stores/ freezer
Run
Get ready for week ahead, packed lunch etc (found plastic tub in freezer full of yogurt sticks I'd frozen, must remember to get one out for lunch box)
Quick fly lady round
Clean bbq from yesterday
Enjoy your day folks0 -
Dawn no plans for big holidays with OH now you have retired?
No, our pensions are such that they wouldn't stretch to that. We have savings but they are there in case of major repairs needed to the house, replacing large items etc. Totally not bothered, we made the decision to retire early, and don't for one minute regret itWe are both so much better off now than we were though, both when growing up and when the children were small. Expensive holidays etc have never really been on our radar, even when I was earning quite a good salary. We just think how lucky we are to own our little house outright and not to have to worry about how to pay the bills and buy essentials
And if we want an inexpensive few days away, we can just go.
Anyway, what do I need to do today?
Well, it is raining, so here's hoping it will stop so I can get the washing out!
No need to do any watering in the garden today
Walk dog
Pop into town and try and get some ant killer, as the blighters have invaded the conservatory
HM meals from stores
Any surveys, check FPL
Check banks
Find something else to list on ebay, to use up my free listings for this month
Sort through clothes drawers, wardrobe etc and put away the things I won't wear again till next winter / put out anything that can go to the CS
Pick last of parsley from a plant that is thinking of going to seed, as they do in their second year. Chop and freeze the leaves.
Pick some more rhubarb, might freeze this batch as I still have some in the fridge.
Pick salads for dinner - it is SO nice to have HG food again
Pot rest of lavender plants in the medium sized pots that I have lying around, and put them where they will look / smell nice when they flower
Bit of dusting / tidying
Well, that should keep me busy - and I have a new Amazon 1p book to read if I run out of things to do0 -
Fab, must have given you some wonderful memories.
Indeed, but was a huge pressure on my bank account and I later had to start my own branch of Yacht Club-aholics Anonymous where I would stupidly spend all my remaining salary every time I went in. Hi May Marvellous-oes,
Thanks for the starter Baileys Babe.
Hugs to all the wounded.
Debt Free-Nillionaire Continuity Plan Year Two:
As BB points out my DW and I have now been Debt-Free for a year.
:A I wasn't sure how we'd cope with this first year, but we have. I was worried that we'd slip back into spendy ways and would be in a horrible mess before the end of the first year .
But we've been ok. We've done this by imposing a few rules on ourselves:
:exclamati The credit card can be used to earn loyalty points on £50+ purchases but should usually be paid back immediately.
:exclamati In case of emergency the credit card can be used but the debt should be repair within two to four weeks.
:exclamati Unplanned spending is allowed but this is kept within sensible limits. We have a weekly entertainment budget.
:exclamati Things we own but don't use will be mercilessly sold on eBay.
There are some things we do now that we didn't do when we were in debt:We buy a fortnightly takeaway.
I don't do as many surveys as I used to. Hard to find the time.
I don't extensively shop around for the best price for wee purchases. If it's under £5 and the price looks reasonable I buy it.
So what about today:
* Off to the local Highland Games. This year there is no entrance fee. Will park for free and then take the train one stop.
* Lunch is a cut-priced chicken.
How about you folks?
