OK, I'll bite but I suspect that this may be a wind-up troll post on some matter about which you are in the dark.

    Let's assume not.

The first few words of your post show that you still have not understood what is going on -

"I am fully comp on my insurance"

    and then -

"when checking my small print with my insurance company they only cover the main policy holder which is not my self."

These two statements do not make sense at all.

If you have insurance - then who's insurance small print were you checking?

You either have insurance or you do not,

I think that you need to have a think about what you have written - and possibly re-write it.

Would you perhaps mean that you are a named driver on someone else's insurance?

If that is the case then of course you are not covered.

Then yes you could very well be in deep trouble - and as far as the law is concerned 'Ignorance is no excuse'.

If it was my car you had reversed into I would not 'be coming round to cause trouble' but I would be informing my insurance company to claim everything possible from you.

Then I would perhaps be considering a claim against you for my uninsured losses.

I hope you have deep pockets.

If you have already contacted the police, what did they say?

Hi i wonder if anyone can help.

I am fully comp on my insurance and assumed i was able to drive other peoples car. I borrowed a friends car for the first time and reversed into a parked car. However when checking my small print with my insurance company they only cover the main policy holder which is not my self. This now means that i drove whilst being uninsured.
The car i hot has damage to the car however there is no damage to the car i was driving. I am worried now that they may come round to my house and cause trouble. Also if they were to go through the MIB will i get fined from them as well as the police?? I contacted the police to insure them i was not insured at the time but didn't know this. Any one know what to do. Only young, feeling worried and scared of the outcome would like some advice.
So it's not your insurance policy then is it if you're not the policy holder. More details please about the insurance you do hold, are you just a named driver on someone else's policy?

Edit: Looks like Iceweasel just got there before me ;)

You have reason to be worried because "I thought I was" isn't an acceptable reason in court for driving without insurance. So expect the standard outcome - 6 points on your licence, a painful fine, and a huge increase in any future insurance for the next 5 years as you declare the conviction.

Also, from the way you say "fully comp on my insurance" but "not the main driver" suggests (but doesn't "prove" that there may be some fronting going on - is your insurance a policy taken out in someone else's name on a car you drive most in order to keep the cost down? If so then expect to be almost uninsurable for a long time - LOTS of companies simply won't quote at all if you're included in an application. Whoever took the policy out can also expect VERY expensive insurance from now on.

Finally, your friend who's car you borrowed could also be facing 6 points + fine for allowing you to drive without cover. If they decide to push that then the only way out for them is to say you didn't have permission to drive, in which case you're also looking at defending a taking without consent charge.

On the plus side, as you say - you're young. Looking back 10 years from now all of the above will just be one of those things that happened.

Added to that if this actually happened and you've been driving for less than two years expect a licence revocation to follow conviction.

My guess was it was dark at the time and the lack of insurance is a matter of fact.

Agree on all counts. Which is why I have a new policy to this sort of thread:

Answer the Op once with the facts just in case it's genuine, then sit back with a beer while others pull them apart

Advice was no longer needed as I am actually cover third party on my friends insurance. Her policy covers anyone to try it and covered third party.

Here are the facts I'm 25, I've had my licence for 5 years and this is the first time I have made a mistake or been in a accident.
I am only a named driver as me and my husband only have one car and he uses it for work. I only use it for shopping and on occasions so nothing to do with trying to bring insurance down, just makes more sense to do it this way then have two separate insurances.
On our previous cover with another company it covered all drivers on the insurance policy to drive other cars so that's why I assumed it would be the same with all company's that where I was wrong. Regarding the police they were really helpful. I went to them as I'm an honest person and new it was the best thing to do as I admitted to being in the wrong.
