DaveyBoy - In case you are struggling to detect the mountains or sarcasm and cynicism coming through on most of these posts...

    1. Your electrics are not safe and should not be used
    2. Repairing will cost money. Probably quite a lot of money

Maybe this is for real. If so, and the house hasn't needed any attention in 50 years (entirely possible), the time has come that it does.

Diagnosis - rewire. Cost of not rewiring - increasing risk of fire. Fires make rewiring seem cheap!

Not read it all but if you have or had wired fuses in this day and age then you really do need to spend some money, the issue as you have found is finding the genuine guys out there, they do exist but need to come by recomendation, not cold call or advertising.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

Uncle Charlie sounds as if he can help you sort things in the short term.
B&Q have boxes of 4 candles on offer which you could burn to give you a bit of heat and light.
    What is your favourite cheese?

Well thanks mate I will definetely get some next time but right now I am quite happy at my Uncle charlies with telly a beer and a laptop computer to use thank you

No idea why you asking about cheese but ok LOL. i like most cheese especially on pizza or a sandwitch and will try anything I have ate probly 1 hundered diffrent cheeses from round the World but in the last couple or 3 years some of the best cheese is right here in england and to be honest probly 80 or 90 percent of all the cheese I eat is from uk nowdays.i tend to look for 1 with a good strong flavor, that does not mean stinky cheese always (altho somethin like a peak land blue or buxton blue is always welcom), there are lots of other cheeses with ver y distictive taste without needin mold growin on it LOL! if you fancy a hard chesse the cave age cheddar and cave age red lester. are both very delicous and altho i dont normaly dont like stuff put in cheese for no reason softer chedars like Harlech with horsradish in or y Fenni with mustard seeds are very good. if you fancy one a bit more unusul I would say try a washd rind cheese, mainly from france but you get quite a few in UK also like oxford isis, the golden cenarth from wales or even stinking bishop that was in a Wallace and gromit film, it is very delicous but will make your fridge smell like feet LOL. to finish I will say brie and camembert both again mainly from france but now also mad in england, the brie is as good as most france brie and i say the camembert is BETTER than most french camembery! one more to mention is sharpham rustic you see it in more places nowdays ad it is like NO OTHER CHEESE.very nice, unusul and one of the few cheese I will ALWAYS. Buy if I see it. if you let me have three I say the camembert the cave red lester and probly sharpham rustic. if you only let me have ONE then i flip a coin betwen cave age red lester and englands cammembert cos I could never choose!

You Sir are a Maitre Fromager,my acquaintance Monsieur Herv Mons and I often wax lyrical on our cheeses. Our deliberances often raise the ugly name of Kraft. They must be stopped before they introduce our beloved cheese's into their Dairylea lunchables.
Il est tout simplement pas le cricket ou boule.
I hope you can sort your leccy problems soonest.
