So disarming Germany and basing 200,000 troops there was just a waste of time and energy then?

Why does there only have to be one reason?

The threat of the USSR was another reason.

Explain this! The U.K. wants devolved government, the Welsh, the Scottish, Northern Ireland and not to forget the Cornish. They all want to govern themselves. And every other minority community. So what is it that Dave and Jezza wants us all to be governed by all the other members of the eu!

    Just a thought fj

But isnt signing up to the ECHR mandatory to be a member of the EU?

How we could ever remotely think about ditching the ECHR I just dont know. We were instrumental in setting it up after the second world war, leaving it would be a dark day for this country.

it has been the interpretation of same that has been the problem for me.

There is a HUGE difference between ditching, and interpretation.

My first thought is, why anyone other than those who are english (or reside there legally ) should have a vote on english law?

As a stupid immigrant, I find the divolved nations having a say in english law (when the english dont in scotland etcetera) is plainly madness ?

Along with the completely stupid interpretation of the UN human rights legislation.

But what do I know, I am an immigrant.

There are none so blind, who will not see. At least beyond their own prejudice.

Having worked in defence for nearly 40 years the impact of the EU has never been a factor. It is NATO endof.

Being in the EU is like watching someone run a bath with both taps on full. You can see the bath is going to overflow and you are suggesting that the taps need to be turned off. Meanwhile the guy running the bath insists it will have no impact and calls you a bigot for suggesting it will.
I like the EU as an organisation to support free trade but this freedom of movement rule where there seems to be no chance of a sensible compromise is bizare to me.
