Can you remember how life & the UK economy was before the EU?
No?
Most of us cannot. Ask your parents.
Most of us only know "life in the EU" - - - did you feel restricted in any way? Did you ever know life / economy outside the EU? Why do you think that leaving the world's largest free trade zone would be a good idea?
I can, great weather, remember 1976, 1966 won World Cup.
Jobs easy to get, got three in three days, picked the best.
House prices, everyone could afford one.
Petrol, 5/- a gallon.
Pay rises.
Life was great

.....and for every argument for,.......
The negative ones will follow, but the best so far is voting for something Cameron and Corbin want!

Not at all.Given that the UK has been in the EEC/EU for the last 40-odd years, that statement is logically meaningless...
The posts I was replying to said that prior to joining the EEC the economy was a shambles and since joining it was all sweetness and light while leaving would cause the pound to become worthless.
There have been 2 UK specific crises since joining, the Callaghan crisis was six years after we joined and was sorted out by Thatcher not the EU and the Black Wednesday crisis was caused by trying to integrate a divergent economy with others - the Euro shambles.
My point was that comparing the UK pre-EEC and now was logically meaningless as one crisis was not resolved by being in the EEC and the other currency crisis was a direct result of being in the EEC.0 -

I think if all the immigration had been controlled a bit better, the vote to stay in would be a no brainer, you can put up with all the other crazy rubbish the eu comes up with.
But for the ordinary working man and woman who seems to be completely ignored and trodden over, where is the benefit of all this immigration to the likes of me? Can someone tell me as i sure as hell cant think of any.0 -

How about the fact that you have not had to fight in a European war.
Or, given that this is a board about money, not had to pay for one.0 -
But surely extra people (especially predominantly young working age males) means extra tax generators?
Logically this should ultimately lead to lower taxes, should it not?
Don't try to use logic on a leave campaigner. They only respond to populist emotional ploys that don't stand up to a moments scrutiny.
I was honestly open to be convinced either way a couple of months ago, but the constant stream of rubbish put out by the leave campaigners (rather than anything from the remain-ers) has made me a 100% remain voter.0 -

But what seems to be happening is that the economic contribution of much of tHe immigration is replacing that of the British workforce.
The number of long term economically inactive British people is still high, even though unemployment rates are low. This harks back in spessence to the Blair years, whereby lower numbers of unemployed, or certainly claimants, was the key, the corollary was that the numbers in sickness benefits increased astronomically, as well as the numbers going into education, the latter having the convenient effect of reducing those looking for work and taking out loans to pay for them.
The vast majority of immigrants are of benefit, but as a country this has allowed large numbers of British people to avoid work, that's the real problem in my opinion.0 -
I am an immigrant. With a university education (paid for by me in my home country). Who pays taxes and has raised 3 male taxpayers (didnt try to overpopulate but had twins).
Wanna boot me out?0
