Can you remember how life & the UK economy was before the EU?
No?
Most of us cannot. Ask your parents.
Most of us only know "life in the EU" - - - did you feel restricted in any way? Did you ever know life / economy outside the EU? Why do you think that leaving the world's largest free trade zone would be a good idea?0 -
yes because germany will have to pay the money we pay to the EU . and in the future the EU will be not as powerful as us.Can you remember how life & the UK economy was before the EU?

why do u think america want us to stay?....they let us nearly go bankrupt b4 helping us in world war 2 .We would of been a weathly country than the US if world war 2 didnt happen.
life b4 the Eu? things was ...when we went abroad on holiday everything was really cheap ..remember?“Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.”

Yes, the 3 day week was great and the way we were so close to being the first developed country to be reclassified as third world was so brilliant. How our economy was bankrupt and no-one would lend to us was so desirable. The continued decline was something we should aspire to have.yes because germany will have to pay the money we pay to the EU . and in the future the EU will be not as powerful as us.
You think that Europe without UK but containing 3 of the top 10 economies of the world would not be as powerful as the UK? Please explain.why do u think america want us to stay?....they let us nearly go bankrupt b4 helping us in world war 2 .We would of been a weathly country than the US if world war 2 didnt happen.
The empire was heading towards the end of its life with or without WWII. We were already in decline and it was unsustainable. The delay by the US to provide help did speed it up and did create a world of debt. Sterling had already lost its status as a reserve currency before WWII.
Between the 50s to 73, UK GDP growth was almost half France, West Germany and Italy (95% vs 50%). After joining the EEC, GDP growth outpaced the rest. If we had not have joined the EEC, our position has been estimated to be somewhere closer to New Zealand or Argentina. You would be hard pushed to find an economist who believes the UK would have been in a better position if we had not been a member of the EU.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Totally agree with what dunstonh says.
Our (as in general public) biggest problem with this is that most of what we read is fueled by the writers own bias & self interest. Whether it be for ecomonic or political advantage and their love of a headline, however little of it is based in truth.
Before we went into the common market I used to work for several economists. There were 2 in particular. One wanted us in, the other, because of his earlier years in Europe, wanted us to stay out. They both used the same figures to prove what they wanted to happen was the best thing. The only thing they used differently was the start year.
We are currently having those lies, damned lies and statistics fed to us, along with the fodder of racial discrimination. Do we really want to go back to the days of rampant inflation and interest rates? I certainly don't.
As for the effect on our pension funds if we come out - it may not be apparent at first but in a short while of taking your pension it would be devalued so much by inflation as to be worthless.0 -

when we went abroad on holiday everything was really cheap ..remember?
Foreign holidays as we know them were not common for most people until after the UK joined the EEC.
As far as cash value goes, the only reason things appeared cheap was because there were currency controls which stopped people taking money abroad ..remember?0 -

The strongest argument that I've seen against ever having a referendum on any issue.0 -
My personal opinion is, if we BREXIT the pound will crash along with the market. So if retiring this year you might want to up the cash in your pension and buy any euros for this summers holiday (I have as a precaution).
Of course how long the pound and the markets will stay down is another thing. No way to say.0
