in Credit cards
We are looking to get a new kitchen and pay on credit card then move the balance to a 0% card and clear it off in 18 months, the card we would use to make the purchase is in my name with hubby as 2nd cardholder. He is main earner so would be applying for the 0% card in his name, can he move money from my card to his card or do they both gave to be in his name??
He has a card in his name he could put it on but my card is a cash ack one so would rather do it on that one if we can.
Looking at a Virgin card if that helps.....did the eligibility check and seems to be the best option.
Thanks

So they both have to be in his name or it can be done from my card to his?0

Try to avoid both yours/his cards being with the same brand/group.
Eg Barclaycard > Barclaycard BT. Some card issuers prevent this, other than that it is possible to do.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Budgeting & Bank Accounts, Credit Cards, Credit File & Ratings and Energy boards. You don't say which BT card provider he'll be trying to use, but if it's Tesco (or, I believe, Santander, HSBC, et al), he'll be asked, just as I was last week, if the balance to be transferred is on a card in his name.
As an aside, and at the risk of stating the obvious, he needs to secure the BT card (after researching whether they expressly forbid BTs from 3rd parties) before you make the purchase...otherwise it'll be an expensive Kitchen!0 -
Thanks all, card is Asda Santander I think it is and was looking at Virgin or Tesco.
To be honest the money is in savings to clear it but wanted to leave them alone and take advantage of a 0% rate.0 -

How would they know if one was fibbing?0 -
Why not get a money transfer card instead of balance transfer, then there'll be no problem.
Simply use the money to pay off the purchase card.
Virgin are currently offering 36 months at 0% with a 2.59% fee. Only 4 months shorter than their equivalent balance transfer card, and with the same fee.0
