I don't know whether Khan has shared platforms with people who wish to kill all GLBTs and all jews : do you know ? Does it make any difference to you?[/QUOTE/]
To be fair to Sadiq Khan, he voted for gay marriage and received death threats for it.Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Excellent result.
Owen Smith in the Guardian:Zac Goldsmith has lost, his reputation ruined, a political disgrace consigned to the history books. He had a choice. He could have capitalised on his reputation as a liberally minded, eco-friendly Tory, crossing partisan divides, love-bombing a city that has increasingly become a Labour heartland.Instead, Goldsmith waged a campaign soaked in racism, in one of the most ethnically diverse cities on Earth, shamelessly exploiting anti-Muslim prejudices in an effort to secure a shameful victory. Khan was a candidate who “repeatedly legitimised those with extremist views”, he wrote in the Mail. London was offered a campaign of fear, smear and bigotry. And London overwhelmingly told it where to go.Don't blame me, I voted Remain.0 -
Well, the guardian is going to present it in an extremely partisan way. I detest the politics of hate and divisiveness that is why the Tories did not get my vote in this mayoral election, but neither did Khan. Labour use the same tactics in their general politics and will not get my vote until they come up with some sensible policies of their own.
No party really represents my views at any decent level at the moment.
Democracy is the worst form of government! Except for all the others.0 -
Zac Goldsmith's campaign included many things like not lieing that it is possible to pay tube workers inflation busting pay rises every year and freeze fares whilst still investing in capacity increases. However according to the unbiased press (guardian, bbc) it was only about being racist towards muslims.I think....0

On the bright side, Zac wiil now have more time available to follow his passion. Bollywood movies.

Can't say I liked either candidate. Khan nominated someone he didn't want to become Labour leader. Why put forward someone whom you have no faith in?"Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance" - Confucius0 -
It is very strange that in US politics we can talk ad-nauseam about changing demographics and the Black and Hispanic 'votes' but there is never any mention in the uk of the 'muslim vote'I think....0

Partly because the size of those demographics
Black population, non hispanic in US = 12%
Hispanic population = 17 %
On top of that, there is a "winner-takes-all" system in most states, and the hispanic population is even high of three very important states in terms of size; Calfornia, Florida and Texas. It's difficult to take these without the hispanic vote.
Of course, if your attempts to stop enough black people voting in Florida fail, you can always get the supreme court to appoint the president instead."Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance" - Confucius0 -

According to the 2011 census the proportion of Muslims in London was 12.4%. Up from about 7.5% in 2001. Extrapolating in 2016 that would give approx 15%., and I believe this thread is about the London mayoral election?
The interesting thing is that I am very nervous mentioning this as it just appears racist when looking at it and yet we can say the same thing about the US electoral map with impunity.I think....0
