I joined BT in January and paid for line rental saver. Is there really no refund on line rental saver if I choose to leave due to this price hike? I just have to pay the extra on the broadband and that's the end of it?

Yup you can only get a refund on the LRS within the first 14 days of paying for it.

I rang them up this morning having read the article. I was paying just shy of £49 pcm for Infinity 1, Line Rental and BT tv with Sport.

They have lowered it to £30.99 after threatening to leave. (£18 discount) Although it would have been cheaper to move to Skys broadband deal, it wasnt worth the hassle. But if you have the patience, go with Sky Unlimited and get NOW TV. Of course, the internet wont be as fast.

Simple enough process and once you've done it once and discovered how simple it is you'll almost certainly repeat the process.

You shouldn't lose internet access for more than an hour at most.

I have just signed to a 12 months BT broadband last month and now I hear that they will increase their prices. I paid the line rental in advance (£194) so will I be affected by the price rise? and if that is the case, Can I leave them and get what is not unused of the line rental back?

No you don't get an increase until your advance lr ends .

I have just received an email from BT about the price rise in July. Although it is not affecting the line rental as I paid it in advance, but they will increase my BB and calls package from £5 to £6.10. Not very pleased as I only joined them a month ago.

How exactly does this non refundable line rental saver fit in with the Unfair Terms in Consumer Contract Regulations? Pay line rental upfront, price of other services increase during the line rental saver term, locked in with no choice but to accept the price increase or cancel and lose out? I'm pretty sure I could get a proportionate refund on the line rental saver if I took it all the way to the ombudsman...

Does the price of BT line rental go towards subsidising BT Sport? If it does then it is high time line rental was lowered and the price for BT Sport reflected by adding the price to BT Sport. Then those who only want a telephone are not cross subsidising those who want to sit idly watching football matches.
