I have used the Lloyds Bank Avios card as it has been my main source of collecting Avios points, which have paid for a lot of flights over the years. I am looking to switch to another card that gives Avios or similar, but that doesn't charge for foreign transactions. I need to do a bit of research first.

If you want an Avios collecting card with no forex fees, the Lloyds Avios Duo is the way forward. Once I've spent the £7k a year required for the "upgrade" voucher, I don't use them for GBP transactions - but the Amex is my card of choice when I'm abroad. I don't think much of the MasterCard due to the rubbish earning rate, so prefer to use Monzo abroad where Amex isn't accepted. Monzo has some great features which you don't get with Lloyds, like push notifications to your smartphone which tells you roughly how much your forex transaction will cost in GBP. And free cash withdrawals. It's a MasterCard too so likely to give the best forex rates.

You're out of luck otherwise, unless you can get hold of certain USA credit/charge cards which are forex free. Given the low interchange fee caps in the UK, something has to give if you're getting "free" points on your spending. High APRs and fees for almost everything, especially forex go towards funding those points.

I have the opposite problem with Lloyds. I used to have the Lloyds TSB AirMiles Duo credit cards. I cancelled it and signed up to the Lloyds Bank Avios Duo credit cards having been referred for a 4.5k Avios bonus. Lloyds Bank are trying to say they're the same product, so I can't have the bonus points as only those who haven't had the account before are eligible! They're different products, but only when it suits them.

When Lloyds & TSB split, who serviced your card?
The Duo account TSB offers is almost the same as the old Lloyds TSB Duo cards

    Get the TSB card instead.

Lloyds, as my home branch was a Lloyds prior to the merger.

I have the TSB Duo but no incentive to use it, other than a monthly transaction for the sole purpose of generating a DD. Nothing in the way of bonus points offers or anything.

The Lloyds account may cost £24 a year, but the forex free element and annual upgrade voucher for spending £7k make it worthwhile for me.

This would be why they are saying it's the same product.

Had you been one of the customers that had gone to TSB, I would think you would have been eligible.
