When I purchase online from overseas using my visa debit card (HSBC), the merchant is asking about my full name, date of birth, phone number in addition to card number, cvv and billing address.
Please suggest if I can give these details? Is it safe?.

What's the website ?
If your not confident then don't follow through with the purchase.0 -
What company are you purchasing from?
Why would they ask you a DOB, unless it was an age restricted purchase?
I would be cautious.
Maybe more details would give you a more tailored response.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Budgeting & Bank Accounts, Credit Cards, Credit File & Ratings and Energy boards. They may use my card details to make some transactions, and then use my date of birth and phone number in case if any verification required from visa/bank. Is it possible?0

Have you researched the company? Do they have good reviews? If they are much cheaper than anyone else, why is that?
The only thing there that doesn't appear standard to me is date of birth.0 -
Yes, merchants definitely can see information linked to the card number (or check if the information they have is coorrect?). I am pretty sure about the name and the address at least.0

DOB and Telephone can't be checked.
I can understand asking for a telephone number (landline) but DOB is unnecessary.
If you're not comfortable just give a fake one (that you can remember)
They won't be able to verify it.
Edit: They can't "see" the information either. They CAN submit it and see if it passes muster, but they won't ever see the "right" answer.0
