Well I bought Office 2016 for Mac for £17 plus change from fleabay after reading this thread.

To satisfy legal requirements the activation key comes with a broken motherboard. This is not posted to me but is apparently available for collection should I want it.

There was no media involved, 30 minutes after paying I received an email with the licence/activation key and instructions to go to the Microsoft site where I would be able to download the software.

I signed into my MS account and entered the key which was validated and then allowed me to download the 1.6GB installation files.

Everything installed as it should and online activation went without a hitch.

This new version is a replacement for my older version of Office 2011 for Mac bought under the HUP scheme. When I retired four years ago I called MS Customer support and asked them if I could carry on using it or should I remove it. I was told there was no need to remove it and that they were happy for me to carry on using it.

The same HUP version is installed on both my iMac and Macbook Pro, obviously it only installed on one machine but I called MS Support and explained I had two machines and they were more than happy to allow me to use it on both and gave me a second activation.

I have to say I have always found MS a pleasure to deal with.

depending on how much you need. if this is for business - msft may come down on you guys if it's not an authorized copy, hard. for personal, £14.90, what do you have to lose?

I just bough a licence from a marketplace seller on Amazon - the email came through after a few hours with the code, where to download from (MS official downloader), and it has installed and activated great. There are several on there for around £5 - mine was from AZ-OUTLET.
