Microsoft office 2016 on ebay

The feedback suggests that people who have bought it are happy but have also installed it (and the updates) so have connected with Microsoft to do so.
Most PC users are fairly non technical and a lot of the pirate versions of office require you to disconnect from the internet during install and enter the license code prior to reconnecting and while not overly complex I think it people were doing this the feedback wouldnt be as good (as it wouldnt always work).
Thats what made me think it had come through as OEM from a corporate deal as there are plenty of these floating about.
I did press the button and buy one after seeing the original post (on the hunch it was part of a corporate batch that had ended up locked away in a store room).
The seller is fairly new but been around long enough for ebay to be happy. Either way should be able to let you know when the disk arrives this week.
I took a punt on one too. We will see. Can always raise a claim for counterfeit goods if its a con.0 -

MS Office discs have a coloured background, that is a white printable disc.
Activation key on disc? Definitely a homebrew disc possibly using a VLK that MS will eventually pick up on.
But the actual software doesn't have to be original media to work OK. I have installed/reinstalled various version of windows from an Ebay USB stick that has the installs for all version on it. Used the existing key or bought a genuine one when needed. They are all working fine for a long time.
I was assuming what he meant was the key was on a label stuck to the CD rather than on a text file actually on it.0 -
No version of MS Office allows unlimited machine installations (well technically it does but it cannot be activated on more than what is allowed in the licence) so that sets off alarm bells. I say it is not legitimate.Microsoft office 2016 is being sold on ebay for £14.90. The seller ha 100% positive feedback and has sold over 100. The dvd comes in plain sleeve with no expiry date and unlimited machine insallations. The licence key is in the disc, this seems too good to be true but all the buyers are satisfied. Is this a legit? Just wonder!!
The product description uses numbers instead of some of the letters. Would the seller of a genuine product try and disguise a listing in that way?0 -
Why would it claim
That screams hacked version to me* Supports Microsoft Online Update
Another telling thing
Office Pro Plus is only available through Volume Licensing schemes E.G. HUPG, universities etc. Which brings me back to my assertion that it is a VLK that will eventually get blacklisted.0 -
My guess is a Home Use Program key that someone has bought cheaply and is trying to sell on. Although I had an idea that keys bought in this way were separate keys which each individual bought, rather than a single corporate key?unforeseen wrote: »Office Pro Plus is only available through Volume Licensing schemes E.G. I have no idea. It's MS that say it is only available through volume licensing deals.Jivesinger wrote: »My guess is a Home Use Program key that someone has bought cheaply and is trying to sell on. Maybe it is the original enabling licence deal that it refers to. I.E. the licence model used within the company
Company buys 10000 Office licences - can not sign up to HUP
Company buys a Volume Licence of up to 10000 installation - can sign up to HUP
Not forgetting that MS will also make money out of VL by the company normally having to run one or more key management servers
HUP actually costs the company somewhere in the region of £10 per person who signs up to it0 -
That is exactly how it works. (I've "bought" a couple of version of MS Office using the HUP).Jivesinger wrote: »My guess is a Home Use Program key that someone has bought cheaply and is trying to sell on. Each person who pays for the right to use the software gets their own licence key.0
