Aren't you supposed to put you card into a bag/plastic box & fill it with water? The idea being that you'd have to wait until the ice melts before you can use it? It shouldn't damage the card, but if it does your bank can send you another pretty quick.

2 friends used to do this without any problems at all, but that was before the chip & pin days, I suspect it might now damage the microchip:rotfl: A surefire way curb your spending if it does!!

It's plastic, so it won't disintegrate. I imagine the worst that will happen is your signature will fade a bit. It should still work in the cash point once you've defrosted it.

Go on, be brave - do it!! You can blame me if it doesn't work afterwards.......The bank will send you a new card in a day or two anyway.

I can only remember the numbers that are in frequent use (and my debit card was in daily use!!!) but since switching to using a credit card (can't remember that number yet) I found I'd forgotten my debit card number when I used it the other day

As for PIN numbers, don't even go there  ... I don't even know what any of them are, and don't stand a cat in hell's chance of remembering them anyway as I never use them! I'm dreading the day I ever have to venture into a shop and pay by card now they've got this chip 'n' pin system in place :o

yep, soon sainsburys are going to stop allowing you to sign for your stuff - you will have to use the number - which is going to be a real problem for me!
