Of course you can. Just remember that while this coffee shop is chatty it should still be Old Style chat. :)

I can't believe I'm the first one in this morning. With the site being soooooo sloooooow I thought you'd all be in having a macaroon while waiting for your post to actually .... erm.....post;)

Squeaky I wish to apologise to you for I fear I have misjudged you. Last time I popped in I found a small paper packet containing white powder, shoved up behind the novelty Spanish Dancer toilet roll holder in the gents.
I was very dissapointed to find out that you were using the Ol'Style Coffee Shoppe for ye Olde Illegal activities and considered contacting the mods. This isn't the sort of thing our Squeaks would get up to I thought to myself and on further inspection it turns out to be nothing more than BORAX - so I've given the taps in there good buff up and hope you accept my appology;)

    LOL

    Apology accepted.

I saw elswhere that you take a printed TV guide for the kids to draw on. What about doing a junk mail raffle instead? They each get to pick an unopened envelope to do with what they will?

Junk mail is fully used in our house but thanks for the tip. The kidz are always squirreling stuff away as "craft opportunities" I can't remember the last time a toilet roll or cerial box made it as far as the dustbin. I was at the school gates the other day and overheard (as you do) a group of mums complaining that their wheelie bins were full up after the first week (we have 2 week collections) Ours is barely half full. I was watching a family living as you would in 1940 and they created one bucket full of rubbish in a week - now that's real Ol'Style

Any choccy cake left Squeaky? The site is very slow today any reason for that or is it just overload by all us mse folk getting our daily fix?

Our bin is only ever half full as well as I recycle a lot of stuff by taking it in to work for the kids to use in craft activities. Also have a lot less rubbish now I don't buy any convenience foods.

My parents lived through the war years and I remember they hardly ever filled their bin and in those days the bins were quite small and not anywhere near as large as the wheelie bins we have now!
Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

Yeah, my neighbours are the same. They have to take stuff down to the council place at least once every fortnight. I generate three half full plastic carrier bags worth of pure junk each fortnight. All my food waste, of which there's very little, goes to compost (with the exception of meat and bone. These are either for stock, if suitable, or for the local cat popluation if not).

I recycle all glass into the bins by the pub.

Anything else goes into my recycle bin. Again barely half full and I make no effort to crush tins or stack boxes inside one another etc.

While I buy my preferred brands for quality and taste (where applicable) I do now lend an eye to packaging. So where two brands are similar, and I'm not fussed about which one to take, the deciding factor is how little packaging does it have and how much of it can I recycle.

Our dustbin rarely makes it past half full but our recycling bin is frequently overflowing. Hubby is recycling bonkers & I'm sure some of the stuff which he puts in there saying it is good for recyling isn't suitable, does anyone know what would happen if this is the case? Would the council just dump the whole lot as rubbish if it was mixed, I can't imagine they'd bother to sort through it?

Does this coffe shop do light lunches? I'm really fancying cheese on toast & have no chance of it at work:rolleyes:

Lillibet, I've just made cheese on toast with a grilled tomato for my lunch, would you like to share?
The recycle collection men have just been, they were telling me that I'm the only person on our little street who regularly puts anything out to recycle, he said some people never have anything in their green box. I can't believe they don't have anything to put in because we get at least 3 free newspapers every week. Just laziness if you ask me.
If I'm sharing my lunch I think I'll have a flapjack for afters please,if you've made any today
