My stress is lack of sleep at the moment, being caused by the fact that no matter how I try, I cant move on from my ex partner...

I'm one of those people who gets stressed if I'm not worrying about something specific because I must have overlooked something I should be worrying about and it's going to come and bite me in the bum in the near future!

    Currently -
    • Lack of sleep
    • Constant pain (which contributes to the lack of sleep)
    • Finance - my husband just retired and I don't have the household finances totally sorted yet
    • Having my recently-retired husband here 24/7 - I love him to bits, but in a tiny bungalow, there's no privacy/place to spend some alone-time when he's here the whole time.
    • Whether my dog-sitting role will still exist in a few months' time, as the franchisee is retiring and hasn't been able to sell the franchise
    • How I'll cope if my husband dies before me (I'm disabled and he's my sole carer)
    • How to cope with my constant thoughts of suicide
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

I'm naturally a stressy person. Which is silly, as compared to others I am very lucky. However, my current stress is my elderly dog going in for surgery this week :(

I have applied a job done interview and done some one day test job. I am stressing as to whether I will be accepted or not. I have rang the company and the receptionist said that the one who interviewed me was not still at the office.

A bunch of health problems - waiting for test results, waiting for tests, keeping my self harm sites clean and avoiding infection. Uni - they've already suggested I leave. My voluntary work. A few other minor things.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

    My son

    Work

    Health

    Social life - lack of

    Love life - as above
  • Redundancy. And the consequent homelessness, affecting myself, the OH (who is ill) and the housemate, plus offspring having a difficult time. Ill health with a poor prognosis. Having to go for new jobs, most with no security/self employment, knowing that the importance of getting the jobs affects my performance in interviews. Worried that I'm just not good enough for those jobs, but knowing I'm not physically capable of anything less mentally taxing.

There's no time off from work or worries when you're skint.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

Things that are stressing me right now
    • A close family member whose disability has got worse over the last few months (and won't get better) and how they will cope in the future (their benefits story coincides with the others here)
    • A few good friends with health issues and I"m worried about them
    • Coping with a lot of chaos both at work and at home - some situations I have very little control over majorly impacting me
    • A very very chatty colleague who won't let up, no matter how many hints I drop
    • Flying scares me and I need to fly a lot at the minute
    • My weight

When I hear other people's concerns though, man am I grateful for my small scale stuff.

The other side of the question is how to cope with the worries
    • Walking ALWAYS helps, no matter how big or small the worry
    • Good friends I can confide in (including the chatty woman at work :o)
    • Exercise - swimming, yoga, whatever I fancy at the time
    • Remembering that thoughts are just thoughts and trying to steer myself away from catastrophic thinking
    • Being busy and keeping my mind occupied
    • Counting my blessings
    • Noticing my successes as well as my failures
    • Deep breathing
    • Music
    • Hot baths
    • Reading for escapism
    • Writing and reflecting
Honestly OP I'm not sure you should be getting married just now. Perhaps your post is in a particular moment of stress but if you really honestly can't remember the last time you felt happy - if you didn't feel happy when you decided to get married that might tell you something.

I'd recommend reading 'The Happiness Project' as well - as a way of helping you to think about what makes you happy and how you can do more of it.
  • Having a job where I feel sidelined. hubby have suggested I leave and come to work with him (he runs his own company) but I'm having reservations even though it would mean a lot of advantages.

Son is another cause. Seems to have regressed to a 14 year old and lacks any ambition / get up and go.

Dog is a pita. If hubby isn't here he's a dog from hell.
  • Boyfriend - He's just annoying me with everything at the moment. Luckily we don't live together so I can switch my phone off and escape for a while.

Work - I love my job, I have a great job, but recently I'm "urgh, I don't wanna go" (I blame the sunshine)

Kids - My eldest is giving me problems. She's not telling me the whole truth about things that are happening ("such and such smacked me today" when actually it was DD who started it...)
