Not a surprise Glaswejen my OH is suicidal (being in your early 40's and discovering your gonna be in a wheelchair in the next 5 years will do that), I went with him to the assessment they found despite the swivel bather and grip rails and me still helping him in and out of shower he needed no aids to bathe.

Their knocking you back initially hoping people give up/die before they pay it.

Apparently being able to make a peanut butter sandwich, given bread and peanut butter, qualifies someone to do all their own cooking.

What stresses me out? Until reading this thread it was the thought of going to work on Monday morning and the fact I would 'only' afford to buy a FLAT in London whereas my friends have 'nicer' HOUSES outside of London.

Then I realised that others are in worse situations than me and that I have no right to moan about my life.

OP - I wish you all the best. The grass isn't always greener on the other side x

I quite like the saying "nothing matters very much and few things matter at all". Not always easy to apply but good to remind yourself. My main stress at the moment is the thought of the flight back from Australia where I am at the moment, to the UK on Wednesday. Actually, it's not really stress. I'll just grit my teeth and get on with it. It'll be nice to be home, after all.

Mom's funeral on Wednesday. It's not easy when your the black sheep of the family.

Yes I should have swallowed all the sh*t that got flung in my face and made everyone else's life a lot easier and richer.

I don't do stress or worry.
I was taught a piece of wisdom by a primary school teacher when I was about 10.
If you have a concern or an issue, if you can do something about it (ie it's within your control) then do it; and if you cannot do anything about it (ie it's outside of your control), then no point in worrying.

This has worked for me so far and I'm now happily retired so it works
    :j

That doesn't apply to all circustances. There may be no point in worrying, but some things are worrying.

Current stress? Same one as always - Son. :(
    . . .I did not speak out

    Then they came for me
And there was no one left
    To speak out for me..

  • I think some people are just more stressy than others. I read your post and think "your on 48k, obviously in a loving relationship, pending wedding and have yourself a house, pretty good place to be" but then the thing stressing me out at the moment is my son's behaviour, which really in the grand scheme of things is nothing when there are people out there struggling to put food on the table and at least my family has it's health.

I'm not a very stressy person but I don't really have a lot to get stressed about.

    Retired, comfortably off financially.
No family worries, other than the fact my Mum is getting older and more infirm.
    No particular health worries.

I'm a bit late starting my spring clean, I've had some sort of flu for over 3 weeks that pretty much knocked me flat and I'm struggling to find any enthusiasm for washing the woodwork & window frames down and cleaning the inside of the windows.
I have removed everything from the windowsills in readyness so I know I need to get my bum in gear today.

    So I guess I'm lucky. :)

I have plenty of stresses that get me down but those stresses aren't things like where will I be sleeping tonight, or how am I going to pay the bills. So in that sense I feel that I shouldn't be whinging about my life when there are a lot of people a lot worse off than I am.
