July 2016 Grocery Challenge

It's been a while since I posted and I feel I have started to drift away from the discipline of Grocery Challenge a bit (although not too bad) I think next week will be a freezer week so I can get my spending back on track. That means I buy milk, yogurt and maybe a bit of bowl-fruit and lettuce but everything else is made from stuff I have in stores or garden. We then have a weekend away, then one more week until we go on hols so using stuff up is good.
Has anyone made savoury dishes with rhubarb?
SLSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far
I also Reverse Meal Plan on that thread and grow much of our own premium price fruit and veg, joining in on the Grow your own thread
My new diary is here0 -
I've been meaning to catch up, but things have been tricky here and I haven't got around to it.
The budgets going well though. Only spent £88.70 so far this month, in different places at different times but I've kept all my receipts and feel so much more organised. Having, and keeping, a full freezer is working well, I've replaced what we've used as we've used it, but the allotments are in full production so there are significant savings there.
Will update signature later0 -
Spent £19-84 Asda, veggies, milk, eggs and cream, but with what I have that should keep me going to at least next weekend.Do I need it or just want it.0

Tonight I made a recipe from the list at the start of this thread. I've browsed at a few, but this one took my fancy as it used quite a few herbs but, by chance, I had them all
I was, at first, a bit miffed that hubby didn't comment on them, but he's not the biggest turkey fan. So I fished for a compliment and he said they were very nice, tasty!
To draw out the compliment, I explained how easy they were to make and and he looked at me for a moment before saying "You've made these? I was wondering why you'd bought them from waitrose considering we're trying to save pennies!!" He genuinely thought I'd bought them!
So what's the recipe and who's the hero of the moment? Its the absolutely delicious turkey koftes, step on up Coxy11 for a huge round of applause
:T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T
The meat cost £1.69 (YS), split into two, so 85p for a serving for two . Last year, we bought lamb koftes from Waitrose that cost £3.33 that we ate between us in 1 meal.... and that was on the 3 for £10 deal!
I think this calls for a toast to the grocery challenge
Thank you Happytravelling xx Glad you like them and you've reminded me that I haven't made them for a while so guess what we're having for tea tonight lol....

Hi everyone. Had a week of no grocery spends, unbelievably. Today I spent £12.32. Hopefully, if I don't spend more than £15 in the next week, I will be on track. Have updated sig.0

Ooh, does that mean I'm now on a list somewhere Coxy? That's good!
I've not really got the hang of this yet, what with the signatures and everything. So you're supposed to sign off with your target and actual spend of the month so far?0
