Another couple of spends today. Aldi £71.85 and Homebargains £25.62. Signature has been updated. Another 2x weekly shops still to go so doubtful I'll be under budget for my first month back but a far cry from when I first discovered the grocery challenge. We were spending nearer £170 per week! Mainly in part due to swapping to Aldi from Sainsburys. Hubby worked there years ago so the staff discount was always the pull but so glad we changed our ways. I wonder how much we've actually saved over the past 4 years that we've been shopping at Aldi?Grocery challenge June 2016

Hi all
Updated my signature to include general shop and dried food for the cats. It is not cheap but it is supposed to be good for their teeth and general health. I buy it from the vet, get 5% discount and a free bag on the 6th purchase so that brings down the cost. I have tried cheaper food, but they do not touch it. Fussy cats eh! They also have Felix wet food, which DS3, who says he knows these things having done an animal care course, tells me is Macd's for felines. Anyway it lasts about 6 weeks, so will not have to buy any more until the end of July.
Happy half-way through June everybodyGrocery challenge 2025: £650/1500 annual budget0 -

Did a top-up shop at Iceland this afternoon.I don't shop in Iceland very often (have probably only been in there about 5 times in my life),but I really should go there more often.I had read somewhere on a thread on this site that you could buy 2 large blocks of cheese for £3.00.Well,I didn't get that, but got a 1kg block for £4.00-should last even my family of [STRIKE]mice[/STRIKE] loved ones for a couple of weeks
.
Also included 2 large tubs of Flora Light for £4-I have frozen one.
I did forget to buy milk,so later went to corner shop and bought 2L for £2.40.But it's ok,'cos I also found a £1 coin on the shop floor,so that softened the blow a bit!
Total spent: £41.84.Total spend for the month £233.39SPC #36 :staradminx 8.SPC7=£751.10 SPC8=£651.04 SPC9=£843.00 SPC10=£872.76

Will have to go lidl tomorrow for fresh veg, but still happy with my spends as just over half way through month and still only spent just over a quarter of my budget.Do I need it or just want it.0 -

$88 today. We had to buy frozen food for the microwave or oven as my kitchen floor is being dug up to run down a leak. So far the cracked lead pipe taken out is 2 1/2 feet long. He went to lunch and is going to keep breaking out the tile on concrete slab floor and digging until he gets to good pipe.
Signature updated.Overprepare, then go with the flow.
