Saturday 16 / Sunday 17 April - What small DFW things will you do today?

            Hi I'm back,
Just glanced around the house. Much housework required, sigh. I don't want to spend the whole afternoon cleaning; but I do need to spruce the place up. Will try to limit how much I do.
The List Continued
* Went to the Food Fayre. As predicted one could buy a fancy chicken burger for £5.50(!) but we managed to find some less expensive tasties which OH bought with her "spare" cash. Sampled lots of local food.
Also came away with a free voucher for a coffee in a local-ish cafe which we might use.
* Checked bank balance.
* Swam and sauna-ed. £2.80 each. Bargain! Also had a "free" shower too so that's a saving. Took coffee out with us too.
* Dry the carrier bags we took our swim things in so they can be re-used.
* Bedroom and Study: Got away with just a hoover each.
* Burn some photies to CD so they are protected from loss.
* Re-use carrier bags as bin liners. Perfect use for all those dodgy charity collection bags that turn up on your doormat.
* Run free Virus Checking Software on Laptop.
* Bathroom: Limited cleaning to 5 mins using Stardrops and washable cloths.
* Top up daily pill box so they're not forgotten which would result in me being too ill to work.
* Voted by post for forthcoming election. No need, then, to travel to and from polling station.
* Sitting room: Cleaned using Stardrops and washable cloths. Ended up taking ages, everything needed dusting.
* Home cooked whole chicken roast for dinner. OH bought the chicken cheap in Aldi.
How about you guys?

Ally know that feeling re housework..
Cat How funny. Wonder if we were in the same area at the same time? I graduated in 2001 so it was around then to 2004 I was in Soho.
Yorkshire don't wear yourself out too much.
Well. As per Ally I also have plenty to be getting on with round the house but there is only so much you can do with small people to watch. This morning I managed to strip our bed, get a load on and out to the line. Have also done various small bits like sweeping the kitchen floor and changing the bathroom bin, taking the scraps out to the compost heap etc. But I need to hoover, which will have to wait as OH has had to go and fix something at our tenants place so I am on baby duty.
Looking forward to our gammon later.

            Good afternoon Sunday Savers,
Well, today has been more a case of what I didn't buy, rather than what I did. City Centre trip as mr f wanted some ideas for my birthday present. Positive money things were:
*Paid for 3 hours parking instead of 4 & dawdled less.
*30% discount on my Body Shop planned purchase thanks to O2 Priorities code.
*Bought lovely old vintage glass trifle bowl in charity shop for £1.99. So pretty.
*Was saved from a sizeable spend in 'Monsoon' thanks to the foxgloves boobs! Tried on denim dress which was lovely & would have been a real temptation, but luckily for the bank balance, it utterly refused to fasten over my ample top half. Was kind of gutted & pleased at the same time!!
*Took packed lunch to avoid lunchtime spend.
*Called in Sainso's for cat food. Intended to get a coffee but mr f suggested calling at Waitrose on our way home for a free one, so that saved around £4.
*Washer loaded for cheap overnight wash.
*Energy meters read & spreadsheets updated.
*Cancelled RT subscription......(we had that bargain £1 one before Christmas).
*Bought 2 birthday presents which turned out to be 'Buy one, get one half price'.
*Continue working on my knitting order for my leisure time, start new library book, enter competition & catch up with watching 'Follow the money'.
*Made tomorrow's packed lunch.
*Two baths from 1 lot of bath water.
And that is today's money saving efforts.

Late check in so rather what I have done rather than what I will do
we ended up getting the girls food last night but DH and I shared one (with some discount
) I only had 2 soft drinks and lasted all night. Was lovely to see our friends and a small price to pay as they had travelled half way round the world.
Today we got treated out to breakfast. Somewhere we wouldn't normally go, was nice though.
Called to shop on way back to collect 3 presents I had pre ordered. Saved delivery cost
Picked up new number plates and fitted them myself rather than paying for them to fit
Was going to call to Chinese supermarket and get food for tea. Forgot it was closed on a Sunday. So having leftovers instead and wasn't tempted to go to supermarket
Put some washing outside on sunshine
Girls entertained themselves for free on a 'beach' (sand less of course :rotfl:) on our patio with a towel and umbrella for several hours. Ice lolly from last years stash in freezer
Need to get clothes ready for school
Have made packed lunch already. Need to find something for my lunch.
Will look at nigella link - thanks dawn.
Glad you've got a tenant La E.
Lovely seeing your sig going down Bob
Enjoy your evening folks.0 -
Phew, everyone has gone now, and like Ally and Bob, much housework is needed...
Six of us for breakfast in the end, and four for lunch, lots of food left (I bought too much as usual :rotfl:), but we can use it up throughout the week
Somewhat spendy day as we went to a local NT attraction, and although OH and I are members, DS and GD1 are not, so I paid for them to get in and for the car park, and OH bought the ice creams
It was nice to treat them, and we can get back on the straight and narrow tomorrow.
Just walked pup round the park, as we didn't take him out with us (no dogs allowed in the NT property).
Watered the salad leaves growing in the mini greenhouse.
Pulled out a few weeds
DD2 relieved me of 12 of the baby tomato plants that have taken up temporary residence on the dining table, but got shifted to the dresser to accommodate the visitors - put back now, but only 1 tray on there now, instead of two :T
Shattered now, so it is unlikely much will get done. If we want food, we can just eat more of what I prepared earlier!0 -
Well managed a really good hoover once OH was back and cooked dinner, got the washing in. We've been entertained this evening by 2 foxes in the garden who were very brazen and coming right up to the back door to pick up bread thrown out for the birds.
Made DD carrot puree enough to last a few days and she had a good go at that over dinner time. As the pouches are around £1 each I will be doing as much in house as possible.
How is it almost 8pm already!

            Hi all
I do a bit of audit work around this time of year, I get paid £40 for each one which isn't a huge amount for about 3 hours work but it all helps. I could do more but I stick to doing 4 or 5. I usually do one a week and that took care of this morning. Then I took DS2 to footie, made a lasagne and did a bit of housework.
Bob I remember my eldest loving carrot puree, bright orange goo everywhere! And Purple glad your girls had fun but it must have been warmer with you than it was here though, its been freezing!!
Busy week in both jobs this week and lots of other things going on. DS2 needs new school shoes, the sole is coming off but he has had them for such a long time I cant even remember when we bought them!0 -
Late check in, from the iPad no less. I can't get to sleep. Spent a lovely evening watching a film with DH and DS but now can't get my brain to switch off. Remembered I hadn't checked back in here...
Bob, I worked in London from 2002-2004 so about the same time. Feels like another lifetime though.crazy_cat_lady wrote: »
