Hi everyone
Well, the snow didn't last thankfully, but it's been a weird old weather day. One minute glorious sunshine, then hailstones. I confess to having made the most of an excuse not to go out anywhere today. But I have kept busy...
La E - fantastic news re the tenant. I'm pleased for you
DNMS - so pleased to see you back. Hope that you've had a fantastic time.
Foxgloves - I am in awe of your shopping/not shopping day.crazy_cat_lady wrote: »

Dawn interesting point on the shoes and relative value over time. I just finished reading the government referendum leaflet and one of their points was basket price would increase if we exit. Could be an interesting time ahead if so.
Good luck feeding your extras tommorow
Foxgloves very impressive will power. When I was in my early twenties in a job with bonuses we used to plan what we'd buy next bonus in the office. We were near bond street so there were a couple of Gucci trips and I once spent £500 on a watch. Fair enough it was all bought and paid for but I could have put it towards my eventual property deposit or wedding. But I used to see it as a monthly treat rather than money to save. Now I think a £2.50 coffee is extravagant when I'm out and I couldn't tell you the last time I bought clothes. All about priorities isn't it." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Sorted through another cupboard as part of my "pretend we're moving house" campaign. Have a large pile for the charity shop and loads of rubbish gone. Very therapeutic.
Planted out the 48 perennials we received 'just for postage' from Gardeners' World. Bargain.
Reconciled bank statement and CC statement - not too bad but determined to do better.
Happy weekend everyone. x
I'm having a "pretend we're moving house" campaign/only keep things that bring you joy. Felt quite good going down to the tip, charity shop, tidying stuff up and listing things on eBay/Facebook todayCompetition wins £14,136.30[\COLOR]0 -
Feeling pretty chuffed with myself that I had a wash, cut and blow dry at the local Hair and Beauty College for £6! Just can't justify spending £25-35 quid and it gives them practice.
Got a £2k bonus from work, completely unexpected so planning to pay off the final balance on a CC.
I have been clearing up a lot today and gardening as my American inlaws and coming to stay. It has also meant that we have taken a big bag to the charity shop and I've listed clothes on eBay and Facebook.
Went for a coffee and wombled some receipts for the loyalty points: got enough for a free coffee next time :-)
Won £25 on the bonds this week and my DD won a £25 clothes voucher.
Entered competitions this morning and will again before I go to bed - I'm hooked.
Check the free post code lottery thanks for telling me about it.
Planning to take hair straighteners back tomorrow because they have broken already and I only bought them at Christmas. Would like to get some Cloud 9's ! I know there expensive but I am thinking it might be worth spending the money for better quality, using the refunded money and going through a cashback site. I have googled the cheapest shop too. Let's see if I get a refund and go from there...!Competition wins £14,136.30[\COLOR]0 -
Hi all
Dawn I woke up in the middle of a weird dream this morning too. Oh and Foxgloves your post made me smile. I often go on websites and put things in the basket then delete them.
Well done on the bonus LuckyPenny, thats fantastic.
We had someone knocking on the door this morning conducting a survey on radio listening. DH took pity on him and agreed to do it and earned £5 cash!
The weather has been awful, again. I have so much washing I just had to use the tumbler today, although I have had some out on the line between showers.
I have been working silly hours this week and it's really hit me tonight. I am so tired. DH treated us all to supermarket pizzas and chips, I almost suggested getting a takeaway but stopped myself! Must do my finance spreadsheets tomorrow.0 -
Hi guys,
Apologies in advance for any typos - I'm on my kindle so not v typing friendly.
I've been enjoying reading the thread this morning. Thanks for joining me in celebrating the new tenant moving in. It's a relief. He sounds lovely too.
So...saved money this weekend by not going out with pals - will see them soon enough! So saved probs £50 for me and OH dinner and drinks...
Got £50 belated birthday money today:T
Teaching tonight - hoping for a busy class...0 -

Ha ha, I can totally relate to this. Sometimes I can get filled with so much regret, but hey ho, there's just no point... Onwards and upwards...0 -
Morning all :hello:
I worked in central London for a couple of years before dd was born, in an office just behind Oxford Circus tube station, and I used to spend an absolute fortune. Coffee, expensive sandwiches, clothes, and I used to spend a load of time in John Lewis.
I'm quite embarrassed when I think about it now...
So, up to bright sunshine this morning - looks lovely out there. I've had a good nights sleep and am reasonably ready to go.
Plans for today:
:cheesy: PAD from somewhere
:cheesy: tutoring
:cheesy: have to do an hour or so of schoolwork
:cheesy: definitely flea the cats
:cheesy: make something nice for dinner with the slow cooked pork I did yesterday
:cheesy: get dh to go out and get some milk as I want a nsd
:cheesy: make some goujons out of the chicken I got out of the freezer last night
:cheesy: no heating
:cheesy: wash the sofa covers and get them dried while the sun is out
:cheesy: more crochet if I can find time. I'm getting a list of requests now...
:cheesy: do not stress
:cheesy: get the kids to help with some housework
Have a good day all :wave:Not giving up

Hi April Awesome-ees,
Well the sky's black, it's going to rain again and money's tight til payday so what can we do?
Debt Free-Nillionaire Continuity Plan Month Eleven:
* Go down the road to local Scottish Food Fayre. Don't know whether there'll be bargains or it'll be all "Buy A Delicious Hand-Stitched Wallaby Burger - Only £5" but we can look anyway. What annoys me locally is that events are barely advertised. I kid you not, last Summer I heard a noise, looked up and there was an aerobatic display of RAF planes in the skies half a mile away, neither myself, nor our neighbours knew the local marina was hosting the event! No signs, nothing in the papers. It's like a secret society! And also, last Summer, there was a wee, free, classic car rally at the local outdoor centre. A day-long event. Only advertised on the outdoor centre's website, no mention anywhere else. To hear about local events you have to be lucky, or wonder why the village is full of cars and go and investigate!
* Checked bank balance.
* Go for a swim and sauna at wee local pool. Cheaper than fancy pool in town and the sauna's only 20p extra. Will take towels that are due for a wash and pop them in the machine when we get home.
How about you guys?

Morning everyone, hope everyone has had a nice relaxing weekend and thoughts to those who haven't
Yesterday was a low spend day. The issue I had not so long ago with the unexpected bill has shocked my partner a bit. Usually she is gung-ho with spending and admits that she overspends, I've tried to explain to her numerous times that I'm on a budget etc and I really want to beat our debt and she would dismiss it but we sat over the weekend and spoke about finances, budgets etc and she even began talking about making overpayments etc so it looks like the message has finally hit home - every cloud and all that stuff
Today I will (try to) relax until 12pm when a certain football game will come on and I'll sit anxiously for 90 minutes.
Submitted some meter readings to BG so awaiting my quarterly bill
DD is upstairs watching Inside out
OH is upstairs studying (exam tomorrow for work)
We bought one of those wonky veg boxes yesterday, gonna go on the old style board for some inspiration
Update later on
