When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important! :money:

Up early, already had my breakfast, so thought I would start the thread. I had a ridiculous dream, woke up at around 4am and couldn't get back to sleep  And it is raining again :(

Oh well, let's make the most of the weekend anyway!
    Today I will:
Try to prevent OH from putting the heating on - looking at the weather, we will probably light the wood stove later anyway!
HM meals from what we have in :)
Dog walks, rain permitting - he has a new hairstyle, having spent yesterday morning at the dog parlour, and he won't want that to get wet, will he? :rotfl:
Need to take GD1 to the next town to get her some shoes (I don't see this one very often, so will take the opportunity to spoil her, within budget of course :D)
Look for my National Trust membership card, which seems to have gone missing
Check I have what I need foodwise for tomorrow, when DS, DD2, SiL and baby GD are threatening to be around for various meals :)
Any surveys that are available, and check FPL
Deal with a bit of business paperwork and a couple of personal bits too.

I am sure there will be more, so will check back later to update. Hope everyone has a good day :)

Morning all :hello: Thanks for the start Dawn.

Grey and miserable here to, so washing on airer drying. My list looks something like this:
Pop somewhere (not town ideally) and get 3 cards I need
Go and get new number plats made now I have printed the documentation
Meals from stores, we are going out tonight but won't be eating, just a few drinks. I'm driving to save having to pay for a hotel, will be cheaper as I'll only be drinking water Too far for a taxi.
Girls to dancing, need to pay subs but it's in budget. They're cheaper this month due to hols so will pay remainder of budget to their dance show costumes.
    Bump items on FB
Taking trial pack to friends this afternoon, hopefully might tempt her to buy some goodies.
Check banking, FPL and surveys, likely be a pad in there somewhere :)

    Enjoy your weekend folks, PF

    Morning All

Thanks for the start Dawn your little dog seems to have a lovely life with you, bet he enjoyed his salon pamper :)

LegoMum - Hope 'Swumming' goes well, is that like a cross between swimming & zumba :)

PurpleFairy - have a great meal out tonight.

Well this morning has been quite busy already. Up at 6 as per, coffee in bed, was inspired by the PAD guys to look down the sofa for some money to debt slay with, & low I scrapped a £5er together from the dregs of various accounts. So I am £5 lighter on the back end this morning :)

Needed supplies so headed to Mr T. Havent been in a while, have been primarily shopping at Mr S. Was surprised by how much cheaper they are than Mr S on a number of items. I got a bag of huge oranges which DS loves so he eats loads, 45p cheaper than Mr S. Carrots, onions, & potatoes at full price all around levels I'd expect in Aldi (sub 50p, do tell me if Im preaching to the choir here, but I was surprised)
Managed to get a bag of spuds for 50p YS, & used one of the Orchard vouchers to get another 50p off the final total.
Meals for the weekend will be
Lunch today - Chicken salad sandwiches (rubber chicken mark 4) & cuppa soups
Dinner Tonight - Sausage, mash, brocoli & carrots

Sweet - I made a lemon drizzle cake last night, but added the cheeky twist of drizzling golden syrup on it whilst it was still hot, so its all moist & sticky...yummmm

    Sunday meals
    Breakfast -
    Pancakes with lemon & syrup
Lunch - Tuna melts & salad
    Dinner - Gammon pasta bake

also found 1p roadkill so far today.

    Have a good one all.

    Hi April Awesome-ees,

Thanks for the starter Dawn. Lovely sunny day here at Dowd Towers.

Need to be careful with money this weekend. The bills have gone out and there's 6 days til pay day.

List will grow as I think of things:

Debt Free-Nillionaire Continuity Plan Month Eleven:

    * Home cooked breakfast to get us started and celebrate La Weekend.

    * Checked bank balance. OK.

    * Checked Nectar Points. (Link) If you login and scroll down on the page that shows you how many points there are Offers. Mine has a free 200 points (£1) when you spent 4 times at Sainsbury's Local. We would do this anyway as we buy our milk here so I clicked Load To Card to activate that.

    * Man bought our old barbecue from Gumtree for £15. :D (Better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.) OH was in; I was at work. Neither of them thought to inspect it before the sale. :( Consequently a vital part is still sitting in our Pantry! I will post it to him as he lives 30 miles away. Luckily some 'free' stamps arrived today from RMSurveys.

    * Had a look at our eBaying. Nearly sold everything; except for one camera-ma-bob. Have changed a few listings. To be honest I find eBay a huge effort. Alternative selling sites never seem to result in a sale for us.

    * Sort out a patch for OH's jeans. She was going to bin them but I think we can fix them. When I last wrecked some jeans I cut them up into components in case I ever needed a spare part.

    How about you guys?

    Morning all
Had me for a sec there Dawn - I wish it was still March, I'd still be 38 and the weather would be more fitting than it is for April.
Up bright and early this morning (ish) to go for my training session at half past seven, and I had to clear snow off the car before I could go. Jeez. I know snow in April isn't unheard of, but I'm pretty coastal here so it's unusual. I've had to relent again and have the heating on. I know common sense dictates that it's April and I shouldn't need it but nobody told the weather that. :snow_grin
So, this morning I have already:
:cheesy: been to my training session
:cheesy: done a load of washing
    :cheesy: washed the dishes
    :cheesy: cleared the kitchen surfaces
:cheesy: DS is at football with his dad
    And I still need to
    :cheesy: check banking and PAD
    :cheesy: crochet
:cheesy: get ds to gymnastics later
    :cheesy: aim for a nsd
    :cheesy: all meals from stores
:cheesy: meal plan for next week
:cheesy: avoid the weather until it clears up a bit
:cheesy: not do any school work
    :cheesy: flea the cats
:cheesy: try again to fix the toilet. Not as straightforward as I had first hoped
Have a good day everyone!
  • Morning guys :D we're back from 3 weeks in Brasil :( was wonderful and jeez it was hot! Need to work out the financial damage... Also now need to return to my dfw ways. Have handed my notice in at the crisis cafe and have an end date of 7th May so not many weekends left :j
